Dear Lynn, I know a few people that have bought homes and about to close on a home. All of them have had the closing dates extended and the one that hasn’t closed yet has had his extended 3 times! What a nightmare for everyone involved. Why is this happening so often when they all have been pre-approved? Reggie Hi Reggie, Yes, from the date an offer is accepted to the closing date has been unusually long. Many closings in January were taking 3045 days but then in February it rose to 43 days and the following months 60 days or more. With the market as active as it’s been with no sign of slowing due to historically low interest rates the road to a closing may even take longer. Most lenders are inundated with paperwork as refinancing applications went through the roof (no pun intended!) due to the low mortgage interest rates. The backlogs, social distancing and shelterin-place orders have made the home closing process challenging. Home inspections and appraisals are still happening, everything is taking longer during the pandemic. Thoughtful planning is very important. If you have to sell in order to buy and the owners of the home your buying are in the same boat,

I wouldn’t be so worried but the closing is in a week. With all of the theories regarding how this is spread I am just freaking out about moving into that home. Hi Nellie, Breathe…. Ok, so here is my best advice and may even be what I would do in this situation. One idea is for you to see if your moving company can hold your belongings in the truck for a few days or more if needed. If not you could rent a storage unit to store your things. Then you could arrange for some temporary housing. During this time you could hire a professional cleaning company to clean the house from top to bottom. If this is impossible my next idea would be to close on the home, go in with masks and gloves and lots of disinfectant and clean and spray,

Charades, Bingo, Scavenger hunt, Pictionary, Trivia, Mafia, The Alphabet Game. All of the instructions on the web site. I also read that Zoom and other meeting sites are eliminating the 40 minute limit so families can “be together”.
