Jennifer A. Macksey
Dear Friends,
It is a privilege to welcome you to the City of North Adams for the 67th Annual Fall Foliage Parade; an exciting historical event that kicks off our celebration of the season right here in the beautiful Berkshires. The parade continues to be an anticipated event that attracts many to North Adams, offering a theme that appeals to all ages. Each year, a dedicated group of talented volunteers and City employees work diligently to brainstorm, organize, create, and invite participants to join in on the fun. My sincere thanks to all who engaged in making the parade an enjoyable and successful event that brings us together as a community, and welcomes everyone to our City.
This year’s theme, “Once Upon A Time in Northern Berkshire” celebrating children’s books and fairytales, is sure to cause smiles.
Be sure to acknowledge our Grand Marshal Jim Holmes. He has been connected to Education in Northern Berkshire for decades, having served as a teacher, school committee member, and most recently working with the North Adams Police Department on its reading with the department program. In 2013, Jim was selected as Teacher of the Year.
While working at (then) North Adams State College, he decied to begin a career in Education. Jim earned his degree in 1996 and began a 20 year teaching career. As a retiree, he is a substitute teacher at St. Stanislaus Kostka School. He credits his family, in particular his best friend and significant other Denise, and his daughters Jessica, Stephany, and Allyson, with giving him the support to pursue his dreams and remain involved all these years.
While you are here, I encourage you to visit local businesses and explore the natural resources that make North Adam such a unique place to reside. Enjoy “Once Upon A Time in Northern Berkshire” and please come back.
Sincerely,
Jennifer A. Macksey Mayor
