An Exhibit Highlight...
In 1988, during the construction of the modern Route 7 between Manchester and Dorset (completed in 1990), a large pocket of quartz crystals of exceptional quality and size (up to 1 + inches for single crystals) was discovered The pocket was collected by a few people who knew about the discovery, before it was filled in and cemented over by the highway construction crew The site has been re-explored a few times over the years and continues to produce specimens, but collecting is officially off limits, as it requires parking and collecting alongside a busy highway
