It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I write to express my gratitude to all who made our 2nd annual Street Food Fest come together. What better way to spend the tail end of summer than enjoying a variety of terrific foods and drinks, while listening to great music and watching our locally trained circus arts performers entertain us. As they say, this could only occur in Vermont. I also want to thank everyone who has attended our Summer Concert Series, that led up to this highly anticipated Street Food Festival. Neither the Concert Series nor the Street Food Festival could have happened

17 FAIRGROUND ROAD BRATTLEBORO, VERMONT 05301
After 30 years in the music industry, both as a performer and as a record producer, my wife and I decided to move from South Florida to Vermont to enjoy life in the most beautiful, natural and progressive state in the union. My first life as a musician encompassed playing keyboards with such greats as Eric Clapton, Procol Harum, Whitesnake Brattleboro, Vermont and many other greats such as Jimmy Hendrix, B.B. King and too many top hits as a session musician to even recall. Eventually I moved into record production, producing hits for Peter Frampton, Ted Nugent, The Romantics (including the classic “What I Like About You” and the Grammy Nominated album “1916” for the “loudest” band in the world, Motorhead). After a couple of years in Vermont, we opened a cafe in Newfane, Vermont called the Newfance Cafe and Creamery where I first began to make and sell gelato. We sold our share of the cafe after about a year but the gelato took on a life of its own and over the last few years went from dipping cabinet in Newfane, Vermont to a production facility in Brattleboro, Vermont and an emphasis on wholesale pints and restaurant suppliers. I put the same dedication and art into my gelato as I did as a world class musician. I believe you can taste that difference in our product, a genuine Vermont essence of whole ingredients, fresh organic fruits and pure Vermont grass fed milk. I’m enjoying my second act as an artisan gelato maker as much as my first act as a rock’ n’ roller and I hope you all will come along with me on this second wild ride. Thanks, Peter Solley

Julie Tuman, aka The Popmaster, founded Crooked Stick Pops in January 2016 when she realized she’d had enough of her travel-intensive job in the field of international education. After considering a number of businesses in the food and beverage industry, especially those that used her interest in craft cocktails and craft brewing, she realized that the Valley is already saturated with craft beer and that craft cocktails would also presen t significant challenges. Crooked Stick was born when Julie thought of bringing the creativity and healthy fun of The Hyppo — a gourmet ice pop shop in Saint Augustine, Florida — to western Massachusetts. “When we go to Florida to stay with our close family friend, we literally go to The Hyppo every single day. Sometimes twice! The Valley has plenty of bakeries, bars, restaurants, and everything else to eat and drink. But it didn’t have ice pops. . . until now!” Her vision for Crooked Stick is to use fresh health y ingredients, locally sourced whenever possible, to make brilliant flavors that are fun for families but creative and surprising enough to fascinate adults. “If you think of the chemistry, innovation, and meticu lousness of preparation that goes into the best new cocktails in Chicago, New York, or San Francisco, and then translate that into ice pops, that’s what we’re going for.” Julie loves that her pops are as healthy as they are exciting. “So many of our pops use fruit from local farms. I often pick-up peaches from Quonquont Farm (Whately) or blueberries from Bird Haven Blueberry Farm (Southampton) in the morning and make them into pops that afternoon.” Most of these pops are less than 100 calories, and almost all are less than 200.

Tacos by Tito
Growing up in Texas, Tit o would visit his abuela down near Mexico. He rem embers every time his plate would be close to emp ty, she would refill it with hand rolled tortil las, refried beans and homemade pico de gallo. Tito’s goal is to bring aut hentic Mexican food to Brattleboro so that eve ryone can get a taste of Mexico. He started out small with just a cooler full of homemade breakfast tacos, a taco sign, and wave and a smile on the side of the road. Two years later, Tito’s Tacos operates out of a fullyequipped taco trailer and commercial kitchen, with no plans for slowing dow n.
