The Chief Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Graduation Day ceremony of Phase 2 training cum valedictory programme of 10 Day Induction Training Programme for teachers and Headmasters of Government schools at Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School, Old Lambulane, today
The Chief Minister further said the teachers should set a target to achieve cent percent pass percentage next year
He said that the Government would also honour and award teachers of Government Schools which had secured high pass percentage in the recent HSLC Examination
The Government has been striving to provide quality education to everyone, he said, explaining that the School Fagathansi Mission was launched in 2018 with the objective of improving school education.
The Chief Minister said the School Fagathansi Mission has been very useful and admission in Government schools has increased tremendously since its launch
He said that around 180 schools have been covered under the mission for better infrastructure and overall improvement
N Biren also appreciated the energy and confidence shown by the teachers during the function and said the teachers should approach their students with the same zeal as shown today
Discipline is everything, he said, explaining that a disciplined teacher will only produce good and disciplined students.
He said he can see smart, energetic teachers with a "ready to do something" zeal today and said the credit should go to the STAR Education team.
"Today we could consider STAR Education policy as a success and congratulated the Minister, Commissioner, Director and their teams involved in the programme", Biren said
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also urged everyone to wear mask and take COVID vaccination
Education Minister Th Basanta said that the Chief Minister has been leading from the front by encouraging all in bringing a sea change in the State's education sector
He said education is the foundation of any society and every advanced society developed due to their education system.
He appealed to the teachers participating the training to inspire their students and fellow teachers and further said that the top priority should be given to students and how to make students improve their performances
"Let us fully implement the "No School Bag Day" on Saturdays and dedicate the day to educate the students on social skills and others", Basanta said
Today's programme was also attended by Saikot AC MLA Paolienlal Haokip, Commissioner, Education (S) H Gyan Prakash, Director, Education (S) and Samagra Shiksha, Manipur L Nandakumar Singh and Vice President Policy and Partnerships, New Globe Sujatha Muthayya, among others
STAR Education Manipur stands for System Transformation and Rejuvenation of Education Manipur and is an ambitious initiative of the State Government to transform quality of public education across the State.
It was launched by the Chief Minister in October 2021
A programme under the Samagra Shiksha, Manipur and a component of the flagship School Fagathansi Mission, STAR Education's induction training for teachers and Headmasters involved over 1500 teachers and Headmasters from over 250 schools from across the 16 districts of the State
The first phase of the training was held from June 27 to July 6 at Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School, Imphal
The training programme was led by 56 staff from New Globe including 24 trainers, eight international experts and support staff.

A great teacher is one a student cherishes forever, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said, in a speech on Saturday, adding that a disciplined teacher will only produce good and disciplined students
Singh was addressing at the graduation day ceremony of Phase 2 training cum valedictory programme of 10 Day Induction Training Programme for teachers and headmasters of government schools at Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School in Imphal today
On the occasion, the chief minister lauded and congratulated government school teachers and pointed out that government schools recorded a high pass percentage of above 60 percent in the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2022 result.
Singh further said teachers should set a target to achieve cent percent pass percentage next year

“The government strives to provide good quality education for everyone,” he said

With the objective to revive and transform the education system of Manipur through excellence in teaching and learning in classrooms, STAR education campaign was launched on Friday at EBC Gospel Centenary Hall Auditorium, New Lamka, Churachandpur district
The education campaign was taken up with the support of NewGlobe in a bid to transform Government schools into schools of excellence
Meanwhile, the Highland Group in collaboration with ADCC carried out a massive cleanliness drive and awareness campaign at Lanva bridge and other locations.
The event was also utilized as an opportunity to create awareness among the masses on the need for maintaining hygiene and proper waste management
Members of local NGOs, police personnel and NCC cadets participated in the cleanliness drive
Chief Minister N Biren on Saturday launched STAR Education Manipur, a state government initiative to transform the education system of Manipur through excellence in teaching and learning in classrooms, driving radical learning gains
The new education programme was launched at a function organised by the Department of Education (S) at Classic Grande in Imphal
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the motto of the current education system has now changed from the earlier narrow vision of getting a government job to a broader one of creating jobs and serving the nation The new initiative would assist teachers in better ways of teaching students.
The chief minister maintained that the state government, since its formation, has been working differently to serve its people in a better way.
The government had earlier launched the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ with an ambitious objective to give renewed thrust towards the improvement of government schools both in terms of physical and manpower infrastructure
Mentioning that the government has also taken up welfare schemes in many sectors, Biren stated that many youths of Manipur has now started to perform better comparing to other states in different fields He added that such achievements has
been made possible with the zeal on the part of people to do something new and prevalence of a better environment
He also maintained that the government has always been encouraging the achievements of all the individuals and would be ready to support those who are hard working
Delivering his presidential speech, Education minister, Sorokhaibam Rajen stated that the education system in the state has considerably improved after the successful implementation of the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’
To facilitate teachers in taking online classes effectively for higher education, recording studios has been set up in different colleges, he added.
The minister also appreciated the chief minister for his far sighted vision and initiatives taken up for developing the education infrastructure of the state
He expressed his hopefulness that the STAR Education Manipur programme would facilitate teachers and students in their teaching and learning process and would also play a key role in developing knowledge of students
STAR Education Manipur would deploy an innovative technology and data driven platform, coupled with high quality learning materials, effective training and ongoing coaching for teachers and school leaders, and technology enabled support teams
Commissioner (Education), M Harekrishna; secretary to CM, N Geoffrey; Education (S) director, L Nandakumar; and co founders of New Globe, Jay Kimmelman and Shanon May; and other officials attended the programme among others.
During the programme, the CM also released a leaflet on STAR Education Manipur and handed over teachers’ computer sets and school management smart phones to the Education (S) director

The Manipur government, on Saturday, launched a new flagship education programme, in a bid to transform the education system of the state
Manipur chief minister Biren Singh launched the STAR Education Manipur on Saturday
CM Biren Singh said that the STAR Education Manipur programme would help teachers and students in teaching and learning process
“This new flagship programme would assist teachers and student tremendously. STAR Education Manipur is a flagship program by the Government of Manipur to transform the education system through innovative teaching and learning.”
This new flagship programme would implement measures such as introduction of innovative technology and data driven platforms.
High quality learning materials, training and coaching for teachers and technology enabled support teams would also be introduced as part of the programme
“The program will start with 500 schools in the first year,” Manipur chief minister Biren Singh further said
