The Year Ahead A Message from Rob Chaggares – Board Chair
In the months ahead we will continue to introduce innovative new opportunities for our members.
I have had the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors since 2009 - working with dedicated local leaders on the board, enthusiastic committee members and a devoted Chamber staff. All of these people, along with our members, help make the Chamber a success.
We will continue our commitment to participate in collaborations such as the Shared Digital Infrastructure (SDI), the Newmarket Economic Development Advisory Committee (NEDAC), Business Innovation in Changing Times Series and other strategic initiatives. These initiatives have helped earn Newmarket a place in the Top 10 Places to Live in Canada & recognition as the strongest online business community in Ontario with a 2013 Google e-Town Award.
The Newmarket Chamber has over 850 members representing more than 15,000 local employees. We’ve been here at the heart of business since 1857. Our mission is to help our members build successful, thriving businesses, and to continue to work with partners on issues related to the continued transformation of Newmarket. There are exciting times ahead for us here at the Newmarket Chamber. We are building a new set of services that will help keep our members ahead of the curve in business. In January we are introducing PeerGroups – an amazing concentration of Chamber benefits – learning, networking, business development and more.
The Chamber believes that strong community partnerships drive economic development and community transformation and we will continue to work together with key stakeholders such as the Town, the Region, Small Business Enterprise Centres, Regional Innovation Centres, the Library, Not-for-Profits and our member businesses to help drive the Town’s economic development vision. I want to thank each of you for your membership and support of the Chamber. I look forward to serving as your Chair in the year ahead.

Thrive. Our one word mission statement Of course we have a full corporate mission statement that we’ve built ourselves around, but if there’s one word to define what we’re all about, it’s thrive. It’s our prime directive to help businesses in Newmarket flourish (which is just a synonym for thrive) – and we’d like to help your business do just that.
New Service - Big benefits. Introducing PeerGroups As the hub of business in Newmarket, we are constantly looking for new ways to help our members improve their business practices. This coming year, we will introduce a slew (or perhaps it’s a glut) of great new services to our community. First up, and coming in January is our new concept: PeerGroups.
More experience. Better insights. Improved results Imagine you had a personal team of all-star advisors in your corner offering guidance, encouragement, counsel and insight. Our new service makes that happen. PeerGroups bring a selection of complementary businesses together to form a powerful advisory and/ or networking group. Regular meetings include MasterClasses, Trouble-Shooting, What’s-New? and more. PeerGroups work together to find the best business practices for all participants.
PeerGroups
NewmarketChamber.ca/thrive So how does all this work? In a word, easily. Just register to join one of our January kick-off PeerGroups sessions and you’re all set to go. Take our What-have-I-got-to-lose? challenge, and register for a PeerGroup. We think you’ll walk away smarter, faster, taller, better looking and completely convinced that there is more to business in Newmarket.
Register online today newmarketchamber.ca/thrive tracy@newmarketchamber.ca
You (and, of course, your business) will benefit from the experience of your peers. And you, in kind, will also have the opportunity to contribute to the success of your fellow PeerGroup members. It’s an exciting and collaborative approach in which all can thrive.
Different businesses have different needs. To ensure the best results for all, we have two PeerGroups offerings - one for small businesses from 1 to 5 employees and another for business in the 6-25 employee range. Choose the group that will offer the most relevance for your business.
