Abuse Hurts, abusehurts.ca
Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS), chats.on.ca
This small-but-mighty not-for-profit works to significantly reduce the incidence and impact of abuse through education and public awareness. Currently, Abuse Hurts provides support to dozens of organizations, including children’s services, victim’s services, shelters, and other agencies that deal with tens of thousands of children, women, and men whose lives have been affected by abuse. The Centre also provides access to support, healing and individual empowerment for adult survivors, their families, and caregivers. It operates solely on private donations with no sustaining funds from any government body.
CHATS is a not-for-profit organization that enhances the health and wellness of more than 8,500 older adults and caregivers throughout York Region and South Simcoe yearly, through the delivery of high-quality home and community programs and supports. Offering a basket of wrap around services from Meals on Wheels, to adult day programs, respite care and transportation, CHATS strives to meet its vision that older adults can live independently, safely and well at home.

Community Living Central York (CLCY) is a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides essential supports to people with intellectual disabilities. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, CLCY’s frontline staff has been working non-stop to ensure those with developmental disabilities maintain a healthy mental, physical and social wellbeing. DeafBlind Ontario Services
deafblindontario.com Deafblindness is a combined loss of hearing and vision that impacts access to information,
communication, and mobility. Professional intervenors connect the person with deafblindness to other people and their community as a communication partner. Headquartered in Newmarket, DeafBlind Ontario Services provides accessible residential and customized support services across the province.
Easter Seals, easterseals.org Easter Seals has been providing support to children and youth with physical disabilities for nearly 100 years. Along with assisting families with the purchase of essential mobility and accessibility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and porch lifts, it helps kids be kids by providing summer camp opportunities at its two fully accessible properties. In addition, Easter Seals offers post-secondary scholarships and provides access to information and resources, and public education and awareness. Girls Inc. of York, girlsincyork.org Girls Inc. of York Region provides girls with the necessary skills to overcome barriers, offering programs, workshops, counselling and mental health support for girls aged 6–18. Through an online platform, Girls Inc. has expanded its reach in York Region, implementing several new programs; Counselling and mental health support as well as the introduction of a food support programs for families facing financial hardships and food insecurity.
