Culinary Highlights

A-ROSA Dining as you like it! W

hen it comes to mealtimes, the A-ROSA emphasis on relaxed enjoyment comes to the fore. Unlike more ‘traditional’ river cruise ships, dining arrangements are flexibility itself, with generous opening hours at the hot and cold buffet – with ‘showcooking’ from the ship’s skilled chefs – smart indoor and outdoor dining areas and waiting staff to fetch your chosen drinks. On sunny days there’s the top-deck barbecue to add to the pleasure, and for that special occasion, the more formal Dining Room.

Flexible mealtimes, no table allocations, casual dress code – all part of the A-ROSA experience.

Culinary Highlights

F

or a special occasion, or simply to experience a little more luxury while on the river, on cruises of five nights’ or more, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy an A-ROSA Dining Evening. Reserve your seat in the smart, slightly more formal dining area to be served a delicious menu prepared by the chefs, including locally sourced ingredients from wherever your ship finds herself. Often featuring a particular culinary theme, this is always a memorable highlight of an A-ROSA cruise.

You can look forward to an excellent dinner with waiter service and a selection of complementary fine wines from the ship’s extensive list.

Your A-ROSA Cabin

Make yourself at home... A

s befits some of the smartest ships plying Europe’s famous rivers, your air-conditioned cabin will exude contemporary chic and every modern comfort. A comfortable bed, well-appointed bathroom, flat-screen TV, direct-dial telephone, free Wi-Fi and complimentary bathrobe, pool towel and slippers all ensure that whichever grade of cabin you choose, you will feel immediately at home. All cabins have windows from which to take in the passing views and higher-grade options have ‘Juliette’ balconies with French windows. Some cabins offer connecting doors – perfect for families.

A bathrobe, slippers, bottled water and toiletries are all provided free of charge.

Spacious Sun Deck

Life on the Sun Deck ...at your pace! W

hen the sun comes out, and especially on fine summer days, the top deck becomes the focal point of daytime – or balmy evening – life on board. Take the chance to see the Captain at work in the wheelhouse, as he navigates his way up or downstream, and relax in a lounger, watching the changing scenery. As well as the fun activities, the pool and games, fine days bring the delicious smells of the deck barbecue, and the relaxation of a drink at the topsides bar – this is the life!

Take a dip in the pool or whirlpool, try your hand at shuffleboard or giant chess, or test your skill on the putting green. Enjoy on-deck barbecues and, of course, sit back and watch the world go by! Summertime barbecue

Relaxation

Indulge the inner you – you deserve it A

wonderful feature of all A-ROSA ships is a beautifully appointed, professional SPA-ROSA, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a selection of beauty treatments, taking advantage of the discounted prices available. Whether it’s a beauty treatment or full body massage, follow the experience with a session in the ship’s unique panorama sauna and relaxation room, with views of the passing river. The energetic can workout in the modern, well-equipped gym, perhaps under the watchful eye of a personal trainer, while others can join in a top-deck yoga class.

Treat yourself to a massage or beauty treatment, discover the unique panoramic sauna, energise with a workout in the gym or simply enjoy the peaceful relaxation area. A pool or whirlpool on every ship

Activities & Entertainment

By exciting day T

here’s always something going on aboard your chosen A-ROSA ship, whether she’s tied up alongside or making her leisurely way along the river. If relaxation is the order of the day, curl up with a book in the lounge, or on a sun-deck lounger, or perhaps join friends for a hand or two of cards. For the more energetic, especially on fine days, the top-deck splash pool or whirlpool, the putting green, shuffleboard court or giant chess set provide opportunities for some gentle competition.

When evening comes A

s night falls, your A-ROSA ship echoes with the convivial sounds of conversation at the bar, over dinner in the buffet and dining areas, and later in the comfortable lounge, where a little light entertainment forms the background to an enjoyable evening. On starlit nights, take a turn on the top deck, or perhaps cut a few shapes on the dance floor – the house DJ will indulge most tastes – before retiring to your comfortable cabin for another peaceful night’s sleep, dreaming of more excitement to come.

Drinks at the bar, excited conversation over dinner, a little light entertainment, a turn on deck or dance-floor, and a nightcap with new-found friends.

The Glorious Rhine

The Romantic Middle & Upper Rhine The fairy-tale Rhine of myth and legend, of picture-book villages and historic cities fringed by ripening vineyards, and watched over by ancient, crumbling castles.

T

his classic stretch of the Rhine upstream from Cologne, with its twin-towered cathedral, and leafy former capital Bonn, includes Koblenz, where the mighty river meets the meandering Moselle in the shadow of an imposing fortress, and takes in both the fabled UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge and the mythical Lorelei. It passes countless colourful wine towns and villages, and great sweeping bends lead into the Upper Rhine, which is dotted with historic cities, including majestic Mainz, before Black Forest gateway Breisach and Switzerland’s elegant Basel provide chances to take in yet more scenic wonders.

The Rhine Gorge – UNESCO World Heritage site In the heart of the classic, picture-book ‘Romantic’ Rhine, the dramatic 65-miles of the Gorge, topped by the fabled Lorelei - the steep cliff from which sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fate - is dotted with pristine towns and villages.

Breisach, Germany With its soaring Gothic cathedral – views from which stretch from the nearby Black Forest to the Alps and Vosges mountains – Breisach is a warm and welcoming gateway to a scenic land of cuckoo-clocks and rolling hills.

Mainz, Germany

Koblenz, Germany Beautifully set at the confluence of the Rhine and meandering Moselle, opposite the imposing ramparts of the Ehrenbreitstein fortress, Koblenz boasts a delightful riverside promenade dotted with bars and cafés, and a colourful, historic Altstadt, or old town.

This once-powerful city, the largest in the Rhineland-Palatinate, was home town of Johannes Gutenburg, the father of the printing press. Don’t miss the vast cathedral, the Gutenberg Museum, honouring the city’s most famous son, and the delightful half-timbered Altstadt.

Strasbourg, France Flower-strewn Alsace capital and European parliament seat, Strasbourg’s greatest treasure is its ancient Petite France quarter, a maze of narrow streets of medieval buildings, criss-crossed by canals and watched over by the Gothic masterpiece of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Basel, Switzerland Switzerland’s ‘gateway to the world’ boasts a bustling Altstadt of cafés and pubs. The magnificent Münster, which overlooks the Rhine, has some wonderful cloisters that open out onto a terrace offering stupendous views of the river and the Black Forest beyond.

The Glorious Rhine

The Lower Rhine, Dutch & Belgian Waterways Here the mighty Rhine melds into the canals and waterways of the windmill-dotted landscape of the Low Countries, with their ancient trading cities.

T

owards the end of its 750-plus-mile journey from the Alps, the river passes the wealthy Rhineland cities of former German capital Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf, to become the ‘Niederrhein’, or Lower Rhine, before flowing under the famous bridge at Arnhem into the Netherlands and on towards the North Sea. A network of rivers and canals connect the river’s vast delta to several historic cities – Nijmegen, Antwerp, Ghent and Rotterdam – all of which owe their trading success to the water on which they sit. Medieval gems, picturesque towns and the vibrant burst of colour from the famous bulbfields of the Netherlands will be the backdrop to your delightful river cruise.

Antwerp, Belgium The colourful ‘Diamond Capital of the World’ boasts countless bars and cafés lining the cobbled streets surrounding the famous Grote Markt. Enchanting Antwerp was also home to artist Peter Paul Rubens, whose home and studio at the Rubenshuis is amongst the city’s attractions.

Cologne, Germany This historic gateway to both the Middle and Lower Rhine sits beneath the twin-towers of its mighty Gothic cathedral, which overlooks the ancient Altstadt of cafés and ‘brewery houses’ serving the famous Kölsch beer.

Rotterdam, Netherlands

This maritime gem offers world-class museums, stunning architecture and some lovingly preserved quarters.

Amsterdam, Netherlands The much-loved Dutch city is famed for its canals, cobblestones, step-gabled houses and worldclass museums, but offers visitors even more than fascinating sights. Built for wandering aimlessly, the cobbled streets alongside the famous waterways boast countless pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants in which to pass the time, while the energetic might take to the water on a self-pedalled canal ‘bike’!

Ghent, Belgium An exquisite city, once Europe’s second largest after Paris, Ghent boasts a wonderful maze of cobbled streets and picturesque canals, centred on the vast Baafsplein, beneath the city’s great cathedral.

Nijmegen, Netherlands The Netherlands’ oldest city, a lively university seat straddling the River Waal, offers a bustling café life, and is close to famous WW2 battleground Arnhem.

The Iconic Danube

The ‘Blue’ Danube Long celebrated in music and art, Europe’s second-longest waterway plies its ceaseless course past several great cities and through ten fascinating countries from Germany to the Black Sea.

O

ne of the world’s most famous rivers, the Danube, which rises from the depths of Germany’s Black Forest, is fed by countless tributaries, and is home to some of Europe’s most striking and historically important settlements, including four capitals founded by the Romans, for whom the river marked a frontier. From Italianate Passau, through stylish Linz and Imperial Vienna, onwards to Slovak Bratislava, Hungarian Pearl Budapest, Melk with its spectacular Abbey, Regensburg’s majestic cathedral, Esztergom’s towering basilica and through the natural wonder of the Wachau Valley; the roll call of Danube treasures reads like a traveller’s dream! Add in exciting A-ROSA cruises, and a chance to add a stay in Bohemian gem Prague, and it’s no wonder these holidays are amongst the most popular of all.

Imperial Vienna, Austria The glorious Austrian capital, city of ‘coffee and cake’, of Strauss waltzes, musical geniuses, philosophers and thinkers, is home to astonishing palaces, elegant arcades, imposing Ringstrasse buildings, vast squares and open spaces.

Passau, Germany Set at the confluence of the Danube with the Inn and Ilz, this beautiful Italianate city, the ‘Venice of Bavaria’, is crowned by ornate St Stephan’s Cathedral, and boasts a delightful Altstadt of cafés and restaurants.

Budapest, Hungary Straddling the river, the Hungarian capital – the ‘Pearl of the Danube’ – is an endlessly enthralling and engaging city. On its left bank, Buda, lies romantic, colourful Castle Hill, and on the Pest side, dominated by the great Gothic Parliament building, you will find an elegant maze of designer stores, coffee houses, patisseries and restaurants, as well as St Stephen’s Basilica and one of Europe’s largest spas.

Linz, Austria

The home of the delicious Linzertorte is a stylish, cosmopolitan city.

Bratislava, Slovakia Bordering Hungary and Austria, the compact, walkabout Slovak capital is a medieval gem, centred on St Martin’s Cathedral, and boasts some splendid baroque palaces, an ancient suspension bridge and a celebrated, lively café culture.

Esztergom, Hungary One of the jewels of the fabled ‘Danube Bend’ north of Budapest, Esztergom is crowned by its vast basilica – the world’s third-largest church – the views from which are worth the climb from the river.

Melk Abbey – a UNESCO World Heritage site Towering above the picture-book, medieval market town that shares its name, the vast Benedictine monastery, with its great church and stunning Baroque interior, is one of the Danube’s most visited attractions.

The Rhône & Saône

Burgundy & Provence These two richly contrasting, sun-kissed and historic regions, through which the languid River Saône and the mighty River Rhône make their scenic journeys south, are amongst the most alluring and enchanting of all France.

I

dyllic towns and villages exuding rustic Gallic charm, great cities that bear witness to the potency and architectural legacies of Burgundian dukes, conquering Romans or all-powerful medieval popes, and rolling vineyard-covered hills that testify to wine-producing fame, ensure that a holiday here is full of fascination and delight. The Saône, which rises in the high Vosges to the north, flows through the hills of Burgundy to historic Lyon, where it joins the larger Rhône, one of Europe’s most important arteries, for the onward journey into Provence and to the Mediterranean. This very special corner of the world is brought to life each day as your ship sails on from one delightful port of call to the next, with both rivers full of fascination.

Lyon, France France’s UNESCO-listed second city, for centuries the wealthy centre of the silk trade, and now a prosperous gateway to both the Alps and sun-kissed Provence, lies at the rivers’ meeting point, where the Rhône turns south towards the Mediterranean.

Mâcon, France Viviers, France

Famed wine-producing town Mâcon, on the banks of the Saône, boasts a lively, cafélined promenade.

48

Set against a stunning mountain backdrop, the exquisite medieval town of Viviers – an enchanting jumble of crumbling, narrow streets – is an absolute delight.

To book please call 0330 160 8100 or visit www.newmarketholidays.co.uk

Burgundy, France The vineyards of the Côte d’Or, Côte de Nuit and the Côte de Beaune, birthplace of some of the world’s most celebrated wines, lie close to historic Beaune and its stunning medieval Hôtel Dieu.

Chalon-Sur-Saône, France

This historic Côte d’Or town boasts a beautiful medieval quarter, a fascinating wine museum and another dedicated to local Joseph Niepe, the inventor of photography.

Arles, France Once the capital of Roman Gaul, and boasting superbly preserved remains – baths, a chariot racetrack and the famed Les Arènes arena, home to Spanishstyle bullfights – Arles was inspiration to Van Gogh and Gauguin, and today exudes Southern Gallic charm.

Tournon, France This beautiful Rhône town is in an idyllic location set opposite vineyardclad slopes beneath the towers of its ancient castle.

Avignon, France The fabled ‘City of the Popes’, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval strongholds, is dominated by the monumental Palais des Papes, and is an engaging, bustling city, centred on the Place d’Horloge, which is lined with cafés and market stalls – the perfect spot from which to watch the world go by. Don’t miss the crumbling remains of the Pont St-Bénézet, the ‘pont d’Avignon’ of the famous French folk song.

Discover the Seine

The Beautiful Seine Valley France’s most famous river, synonymous with the country’s glorious capital, is gateway to the ‘City of Light’ and Normandy’s stunning scenery.

T

he great, meandering artery that winds its lazy way from one of the world’s great cities through some of the most enticing, most bucolic countryside of all France, continuing a 480-mile journey that takes it from the country’s southeast corner to the river’s estuary at Le Havre, is another wonderful waterway upon which to enjoy an A-ROSA cruise. Sit back and enjoy a holiday spent gently sailing through a pastoral, richly forested region that is dotted with idyllic towns and villages, ancient ruins and historic cities that include the restored medieval gem of Rouen and Giverny-gateway Vernon, discover a land of cidre, calvados and ripe, soft cheeses, and of course crown it all with an exploration of France’s glorious capital.

Rouen, France The lovingly restored capital of Upper Normandy is a true delight. Step ashore to explore the city, with its poignant place du Vieux-Marché, site of Saint Joan’s martyrdom, its famous one-handed mechanical clock, the Gros Horloge, and its truly stunning Gothic cathedral, featured in many of Claude Monet’s most famous works.

Caudebec-en-Caux, France Set beneath the engineering marvel of the Pont de Bretonne, Caudebec, with its cathedral and 13th-century Knights Templars’ house, is gateway to the Normandy coast and pretty, Impressionists’ retreat Honfleur.

Paris, France One of the world’s best-loved cities, the glorious ‘City of Light’ outranks any other Seine ports of call by some distance. With its fabled sights – including the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphe and Sacré-Cœur – its ‘grands boulevards’, museums and storied galleries, and of course with its vibrant café-life and irrepressible joie de vivre, it is no wonder that Paris is always on top of people’s ‘must-see’ or ‘mustreturn-to’ wishlists.

Vernon, France With its medieval, half-timbered buildings clustered beneath the surviving round tower of its onceformidable castle, and with its streets lined with cafés and colourful shops, Vernon is a delight. Its proximity to artist Claude Monet’s world-famous gardens at Giverny, make it an even more popular port of call.

Les Andelys, France Seen from the Seine, as it winds its tree-lined way through the Normandy countryside, beneath steep chalk cliffs, Richard the Lionheart’s towering Château Gaillard above tiny Les Andelys is a striking sight, instantly transporting you back to a time when power depended upon command of the river from above.

River Cruise Holidays, Your Way

Joining your cruise W

e offer three ways to join most of these A-ROSA cruise holidays, giving you the freedom to choose flight or rail-inclusive travel arrangements (except on the Danube cruises) and the chance to make your own way to the ship at the quayside. The options available are shown on each cruise description page, with prices, flight and train times shown on pages 76-79. Flight and railinclusive holidays include coach transfers from the airport/ station to the A-ROSA ship.

74

A-ROSA cruises are freedom and flexibility itself… as are the convenient travel arrangements for joining the holidays.

Flight-Inclusive

Rail-Inclusive

Cruise Only

We offer departures inclusive of flights and transfers directly to the quayside on all these A-ROSA cruises, with a choice of departure airports shown on each cruise description page and on pages 76-78. This is often the quickest way of travelling out to the ship, and sometimes includes the added bonus, dependent upon your arrival time, of an opportunity for some preembarkation sightseeing.

On all Rhine, Rhône/Saône and Seine cruises, you can ‘let the train take the strain’ by departing from either London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet station and travelling out to join your ship by superfast Eurostar™ and onward rail connections and coach transfers to the quayside. Please note that Rhine cruises embarking in Cologne and Rhône/Saône cruises embarking in Lyon will necessitate changing trains in Brussels, Paris or Lille. Train times are shown on page 79.

Make your own arrangements and join your chosen A-ROSA ship at the port of embarkation – perhaps you are combining the cruise with another holiday or would like to extend your stay before or after departure. Please note it is your responsibility to arrive in good time for embarkation, which always takes place during the afternoon. We will provide details of the exact departure point and embarkation timing with your holiday Final Travel Details. Prices for CruiseOnly arrangements are shown on page 79.

Important Information

Holiday Essentials Before you go Passports & Visas You will need a full 10-year British passport (valid for a further three months on return to the UK). The Passport Office may be contacted on 0300 222 0000. British Citizens do not require visas to enter Europe. Citizens of other countries should contact the embassy of the country they are travelling to for clarification. Newmarket Holidays cannot accept responsibility for entry or travel being refused due to the failure on the part of any customer to produce correct documentation. Customers With Health Concerns In order to advise you of any accessibility issues, it is essential that you let us have details of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. The ships do not have a lift and they have several steps leading down to the restaurant and others leading up to the Sun Deck. Therefore, this holiday is unsuitable for passengers who are totally confined to a wheelchair, and may not be

86

suitable for passengers with restricted mobility. Collapsible wheelchairs are most suitable but can only be used for shore use and must be stored in your cabin. Electric scooters are not permitted. If you have suffered from a serious medical condition recently, then you should consult with your doctor about your fitness to travel. No inoculations are required for travel within Europe, and standards of healthcare are good or excellent at all our destinations. Travel Insurance Travel insurance can play an essential part in ensuring you enjoy peace of mind during your holiday, and appropriate cover is recommended on a Newmarket holiday abroad. You don’t need to purchase your travel insurance from us, but we do offer good value, comprehensive travel insurance as detailed in the section on page 89. Joining Instructions Approximately 10-14 days prior to departure you will receive your final Itinerary and Joining Instructions, provided all payments have been made. These will include details of your

flights, rail timings, ship embarkation point and will tell you anything else you need to know before you travel. Special Requests We endeavour to comply with any special requests you may have by passing them through to the ship, however, we cannot guarantee that all such requests will be met, since they may be outside our control. Please note that we guarantee your cabin type as booked, and will do our best to accommodate cabin requests, but cannot guarantee a particular cabin.

Your Journey Luggage One piece of airline hold luggage per person is included in the price. Weight and dimension limits will apply and will vary between airlines. We will send you up-to-date information about your hold and hand baggage allowance just prior to your departure. Keep your passport, important documents and medication in your hand luggage. Please note that non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin space.

Your ABC of On-Board Information Air Conditioning Just like the entire ship, your cabin also has air-conditioning. The cabin temperature can be individually adjusted. When you open the balcony door, the air circulation unit is automatically switched off. Animals It is forbidden to take animals on board the ships. Announcements Loudspeaker announcements can be heard on deck and in the cabins (via on-board TV) and are mainly made prior to shore excursions and important events and for special points of interest along the river. Announcements are made in English and German. Bars

service. We are available 24 hours for any request. Connecting Doors On the ships A-ROSA AQUA, VIVA, FLORA and SILVA, every deck has at least two cabins with connecting doors. These can also be used as family cabins. Customs Tariff Regulations Please observe the valid customs tariff regulations when importing and exporting goods and foreign currencies. Daily Programme For all important information and instructions, please see your A-ROSA Journal, which will be placed in your cabin each evening. Deckchairs

On the A-ROSA ships A-ROSA AQUA and VIVA, there is an indoor and outdoor bar on Deck 3, as well as a café and lounge bar. A-ROSA DONNA has a café bar and a lounge bar on Deck 3; the A-ROSA ships A-ROSA STELLA, SILVA and FLORA have one on Deck 2. The outdoor bar of the A-ROSA STELLA, SILVA and FLORA are situated on the Sun Deck. The opening hours will be found in the daily programme in your cabin.

On the Sun Deck you will find deckchairs and a sun canopy. In the interest of all passengers, please don’t reserve deckchairs. Woollen blankets for cooler weather on deck can be found in your cabin.

Bathrobes

Doctor

Bathrobes are available upon request from your cabin steward/ess, if they are not placed in the cabin already.

There will be an on-board doctor travelling on all itineraries to the Danube Delta. On all other itineraries, we can rely upon the medical treatment available due to the infrastructure of the travel region.

Bicycles/Biking For more information on the biking excursions, please contact the onboard A-ROSA SPA department or ask at reception. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take your own bikes on the cruise. Clothing On-board and during the shore excursions, you can wear what you like. Dress code is comfortable and casual. Please remember to bring warmer clothes for the evenings out on deck. For the shore excursions, we recommend you bring sturdy shoes. For the restaurant we recommend smart casual dress. Concierge Service Our reception team will be available to fulfil your individual requirements (e.g. reservation of tickets for cultural experiences or special excursions, organisation of transfers). On the A-ROSA FLORA and A-ROSA SILVA all suite guests may use our new butler

Disabled Guests and Guests in Need of Assistance All ships have stairs and are not equipped with lifts and may not be suitable for passengers with restricted mobility.

Drinking Water The water on board is drinkable and bottled water is provided in your cabin. Excursions Almost all ports of call are starting points for interesting shore excursions. For more information, please see page 80. Please also make use of the on-board information event on the first evening (embarkation day): bookings can be made on board. A-ROSA is only acting as an agent for the excursions offered. The local agencies will act as tour operators to organise and accompany the excursions. Going on Shore In the EU, you can leave the ship as soon as we dock. In non-EU countries, you can only leave the ship after permission is granted by the local

authorities. In your own interest, we request that you are back on board no later than 30 minutes before we cast off. The docking times may change at short notice. Please pay attention to announcements and information in the daily programme. Please pick up your shore pass from the front desk, before going on shore. After returning on board, please hand the pass back to the reception. The shore passes are used to check whether all guests are back on board. Hairdryers A hairdryer can be found in your cabin (not the bathroom) in one of the drawers near the mirror or in the wardrobe. Insect Screens For protection against insects, an insect screen in the form of a roller blind/sliding element is attached to the outside of the balcony door. When operating the roller blind, please ensure you exert equal force distribution in order to prevent it from getting stuck. It can be locked at the bottom. International Host Our international ships are accompanied by an international host, who is the direct contact person for all international guests. Itinerary You can find the planned itinerary in the brochure. The information is subject to change. High and low water, maintenance work and waiting times at locks and bridges due to shipping traffic may result in short-notice changes to the itinerary. In rare cases of extremely high or low water or force majeure, parts of the itinerary may have to be completed by bus or train and in individual cases overnight stays in hotels may be necessary. Key Card This card is your A-ROSA key and credit card. Please always carry your key with you. In case of loss, please notify the reception immediately. Laundry In your wardrobe, you will find laundry bags and order notes for our laundry service. This will be charged to your on-board account. Suite guests may enjoy the laundry service free of charge. Methods of Payment The on-board currency is euros. During the cruise, you can use your on-board

87

credit card on the ship, and this also acts as your cabin’s key card. At the end of the cruise, you can pay your final bill either in cash, with traveller’s cheques (in euros), with Maestro card or with the following credit cards: American Express, MasterCard or Visa. Money Changing Unfortunately, there are no on-board money changing facilities. However, bureaux de change can be found in the direct vicinity of our docking locations. Mooring Area In some towns, it is usual for the port authorities to assign several ships the same mooring area due to the large volume of shipping traffic. In such cases, the ships are moored next to each other and you may not be able to see out of your cabin properly and you may need to exit across other vessels whilst going ashore. Unfortunately, A-ROSA has no influence over this. On-Board Language On board the international ships, the official languages are English and German. English documents and an international host are provided. Pool A heated pool can be found on the Sun Deck of the following ships: A-ROSA DONNA, FLORA, SILVA and STELLA. A heated whirlpool can be found on the ships A-ROSA AQUA and VIVA in the SPA outdoor area on deck 3. You can find bath towels in your cabin. Post Postcards and letters can be handed in at the reception. The mail will be sent from the next port or at the end of the cruise. Premium All-Inclusive Guests can expect soft and alcoholic drinks all day (including beer, wine, selected spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, water, speciality teas and coffee), an embarkation snack, a delicious and well-balanced breakfast buffet, an extensive lunch buffet, tea and coffee hour and an excellent dinner buffet in the evening. Many cruises also include seasonal extras such as sandwiches or a midnight snack.

Travel Insurance Please call the confidential medical line on 0330 123 3702 if you need to declare a medical condition, if you develop a medical condition after the policy was issued, if your existing medical condition changes after the policy was issued or if you are unsure whether a medical condition needs to be declared or not. This helpline will be able to tell you whether or not cover can be provided for your medical condition(s). You do not have to declare minor ailments e.g. hay fever, colds/flu, ear infections, dental treatment if you have had no further problems since or if you have been advised by your doctor that it is safe to travel. An additional premium may be payable.

Hence, we suggest that everyone travelling abroad with Newmarket has travel insurance. This must be either the Newmarket Travel Insurance policy underwritten by AWP P&C SA and administered in the UK by Allianz Global Assistance, or an alternative travel insurance policy. The Newmarket travel insurance policy is only available to UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man residents and English law will apply. The Cover – Main Features; Limits/Excesses applicable The policy provides cover for:

Making a complaint The policy contains a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint. Government advice is to be adequately covered According to a poll gathered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office 24% of travellers are still going abroad without suitable travel insurance, risking thousands of pounds of expenses, 48% of people don’t realise that without travel insurance they’d be liable to pay for their own medical bills abroad.

Important Information Your financial protection Your holiday and your money are fully protected when you book with Newmarket Holidays. In line with the EC Directive on Package Travel, Newmarket Holidays, offers complete financial protection for all customers through our ABTA and ATOL bonds.

Booking It is extremely important that you provide clear, correct information when booking, for it is from this information that we make your reservation and our contract with you. The person to who all correspondence, invoices and joining instructions are to be sent should be entered as the first name. It is also their address and telephone number(s) that should be given. Other names are required by airlines, insurance companies, accommodation providers etc., so please be accurate. It is essential that these names match those on the passports. If any member of your party, e.g. newlyweds, changes their name between booking this holiday and travelling. It is important to provide us with these details so that we

can issue the tickets in the new name. If there is not time to amend the passport, the marriage certificate should be carried in the passport.

Your itinerary We endeavour to follow the itinerary advertised in the brochure, although please note, due to water levels on the river and circumstances beyond our control, we may need to change the order in which the itinerary is operated, our ports of call, or our dayto-day activities. On the rare occasion this happens, the International Host will keep you fully informed.

Brochure details All information in this brochure was correct at the time of going to print and any errors are unintentional. The availability of some services, facilities and attractions may vary due to circumstances outside of our control, such as poor weather conditions and a change in water levels on the river, lack of demand and technical problems. We cannot predict these occurrences in advance and do not accept liability if attractions are not open

or available, although we will do our best to provide alternatives.

Delays Occasionally, flights, the ship and trains may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will do our utmost to help you and keep you fully informed. In the event of extended overnight delays, depending upon circumstances, we will endeavour to provide accommodation. In the case of a major delay to your homeward journey, we shall endeavour to delay the departure from the ship.

Holiday extras not booked with Newmarket We cannot be held responsible for compensation in respect of any extras which are booked (e.g. travel insurance, transport including but not limited to flights and rail, currency, theatre tickets) with a third party, if we subsequently cancel your holiday for whatever reason. If you book your travel insurance with us, you would receive a full refund in this circumstance.

Booking Conditions Please read carefully We want you to enjoy every minute of your A-ROSA cruise, and we’ll do our very best to try to ensure that it lives up to your expectations. We believe that our more than 30 years of tour operating experience, together with the reputation we have for quality and value, should give you the confidence to book with us. To give you further peace of mind, we accept your booking on the basis of our Terms and Conditions, which are designed to clarify the contractual obligations between us. Please spend some time reading them carefully, and please feel free to contact us should anything be unclear.

Your Contract With Us 1 YOUR BOOKING - Your booking, once accepted and confirmed in writing to you, represents a contract between all persons named on the Booking and Newmarket Holidays Limited (The Company). The contract is based on the information given in the brochure, and the terms laid out in the following Booking Conditions. This agreement is governed by English Law and jurisdiction is conferred on the Courts of England and Wales only unless, in the case of Court proceedings, you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. In this case, proceedings must either be brought in the Courts of your home country or those of England and Wales. If proceedings are brought in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may choose to have your contract and claim governed by the law of Scotland/Northern Ireland as applicable (but if you do not so choose, English law will apply). We do not accept bookings from any unaccompanied passengers under the age of 18. 2 YOUR PAYMENT - Your Confirmation of Reservation includes an invoice showing the deposit paid and the final balance due. The outstanding amount must be paid by the due date. Should we not receive payment by this date we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled, in which case you could be liable to pay cancellation charges according to the scale set out in paragraph 4 below. N.B. 1: The person making the booking does so on behalf of all persons named on it, and he/she becomes directly responsible to the Company for the payment of the total holiday price and if applicable, and where appropriate, for the cancellation charges and disbursements of any funds. 3 YOUR ALTERATIONS - If you want to change any of the details of your booking, we will always do our best to help. We will however make an amendment charge of £110 per person as a contribution to our administrative expenses. All amendments must be notified to us in writing, by telephone or by e-mail to info@newmarketholidays.co.uk, by the person who made the original booking. Only one change of name is permitted per booking. N.B. 2: If an amendment involves a change of name, insurance premiums are not transferable. We reserve the right to make

90

additional charges to cover in full any additional costs imposed on us by our suppliers. Only one amendment per booking can be made (including transfer of cruise dates). Within 90 days, changes may not be approved. 4 YOUR CANCELLATION - You or any member of your party may cancel your booking or part of it once it has been confirmed but the cancellation will only be valid if made in writing direct to the Company or by telephone to our Customer Service team and having answered the security questions. If the cancellation results in a person travelling alone, a single room supplement is payable. The amount payable on cancellation depends upon when we receive your written instructions - the more notice you give, the less we will charge. The different periods before departure date within which written instructions are received by Newmarket Holidays Ltd. and the amounts of cancellation charged in each period (shown as a percentage of the total holiday price excluding insurance premium which is not refundable) are as follows: More than 90 days prior to sailing Deposit only, 71 - 89 days 30% or deposit if greater, 50 - 70 days 50% or deposit if greater, 29-49 days 75% or deposit if greater, 28 days or less 100%. * The “Balance Due” date is printed/shown on your “Confirmation of Booking and Invoice”. N.B. 3: If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of an insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges. Dates of your holiday may be changed, prior to the due date of the balance, only once and this will incur a fee. Further alteration of dates cannot be accommodated and will result in the cancellation of your holiday. 5 YOUR COMPLAINTS - In the unlikely event that you have problems whilst on holiday, you MUST report the matter to the on-board Passenger Services Officer IMMEDIATELY. If the matter is not then satisfactorily resolved, you must complete a written report (form available). You must then follow up any complaint in writing within fourteen days of your return, including a copy of the original report form. We operate a strict code of conduct which also conforms to European regulations on package travel and take any complaints received seriously. However, in order to be fair to all concerned, complaints will be considered only where the above procedure has been followed. A failure to follow the procedure outlined will affect the outcome of the complaint and any possible compensation. 6 YOUR TRAVELLING CONDITIONS - Where as part of the holiday you have booked your travel by air, land or sea, such travel will be subject to the terms

and conditions of carriage of the airline, shipping, rail or coach company providing the transport. In most cases, the conditions will limit the carrier’s liability to you in accordance with international law. Should anyone be refused admission to the coach or ship, or to the destination country by the transport or government authority, then we are powerless to assist and cannot be held responsible. This includes any passenger who fails to advise us of any medical condition or disability. If you are prevented from travelling as a result, our responsibility for your holiday thereupon ceases. Full cancellation charges will apply and we will be under no obligation whatsoever for any refund, compensation or loss you may incur. Copies of the relevant parts of the Terms and Conditions are available on request.

Our Contract With You 1 OUR CONFIRMATION OF RESERVATION - When we have received your booking and deposit we will send you a Confirmation of Reservation which details exactly what is booked for you. From this moment Newmarket Holidays Ltd has accepted your booking on the terms set out in this Contract. 2 THE CRUISE PRICE - Changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel, duties, taxes or fees chargeable for services and exchange rates, mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after you have booked. However there will be no change within 30 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. The costs of your holiday have been converted into GBP using the exchange rate as follows: EUR 1.1040. 3 SYSTEM ERRORS - We try hard to ensure that advertised prices are up to date, and reflect the price you will pay when you book. However, prices

can change and errors can occasionally occur. We reserve the right to change and correct advertised prices at any time before your booking is confirmed.

this Scheme requires written notice requesting arbitration to be made within nine months of scheduled date of return from the holiday.

In the event of your Confirmation of Reservation showing an incorrect price for your holiday, the price that will prevail is the price shown in our offline reservation system. Accordingly you may not seek to rely on system errors with a view to obtaining a holiday at less than the correct price, and any contract entered into upon a mistake, such as a wrong costing due to system errors, is not valid or binding.

7 OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR HOLIDAY - (a) Although we have no direct control over services provided to you by independent suppliers we accept responsibility for the reasonable standard of the holiday which you book. If any part is not provided as promised, we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your holiday.

4 OUR ALTERATIONS - It is unlikely that we will have to make any changes to your holiday but we do plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally changes may be made, which we reserve the right to do at any time. Most of these changes are minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. A major change is one that we make to your holiday arrangements before departure that involves changing your resort area, or time of departure or return by more than twelve hours, or offering accommodation with a lower official classification than that advertised (except the latter in the case of en route tour hotels). If a major change becomes necessary we will inform you as soon as is reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. When a major change occurs you will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available holiday from us (we will refund any price difference if alternative is of lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of all monies paid. When a major change occurs, provided it does not arise from circumstances amounting to force majeure (see below), we will pay compensation as detailed below, based on how far ahead of departure the change is advised: Charge 15 - 28 days £10,

0 - 14 days £25

N..B. 4: We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport. 5 OUR CANCELLATIONS - We reserve the right in any circumstances (including failure to reach sufficient numbers) to cancel your holiday and in this event we will return to you all money you have paid to us or will offer you an alternative, available holiday to purchase of comparable standard. In no case, except for reasons of war etc, (see N.B. 4, above) will your holiday be cancelled after the date when your final balance becomes due. 6 OUR COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE - Newmarket Holidays Ltd is a Member of ABTA with membership number V7812. ABTA Members help holidaymakers to get the most from their travel and assist them when things do not go according to plan. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. For further information about ABTA, the Code of Conduct and the arbitration scheme available to you if you have a complaint, contact ABTA, 30 Park Street, London SE1 9EQ Tel: 0901 201 5050 or www.abta.com. We can normally agree an amicable settlement of the few complaints we receive. However, if we cannot agree, disputes arising out of, or in connection with this Contract may (if the customer so wishes) be referred to arbitration under a special Scheme which, though devised by arrangement with the Association of British Travel Agents, is administered quite independently by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The Scheme (details of which will be supplied on request) provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on the customer in respect of costs. The Scheme does not apply to claims for an amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking. Neither does it apply to claims which are solely or mainly in respect of physical injury or illness or the consequences of such injury or illness. Redress under

(b) We accept responsibility if you or any person named on the Personal Details booking page suffers bodily injury, illness or death due to the negligent acts and/or omissions of: (i) our employees or agents; or (ii) our suppliers or sub-contractors, servants or agents whilst acting within the scope or in the course of their employment to provide any service or arrangement forming part of the holiday that you have booked with us save that we do not accept responsibility for any air or sea carriers whose liabilities are limited by the relevant International Conventions. Any such claims will be subject to and dealt with in accordance with English Law, and will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales only unless, in the case of Court proceedings, you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. In this case, proceedings must either be brought in the Courts of your home country or those of England and Wales. If proceedings are brought in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may choose to have your contract and claim governed by the law of Scotland/ Northern Ireland as applicable (but if you do not so choose, English law will apply).(c) We shall give you assistance in the event that you suffer illness, personal injury or death during the period of your holiday overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part either of the holiday arrangement with us or an excursion offered through us. This assistance will include advice and guidance and, at our discretion and where appropriate, financial assistance subject to our spending a maximum amount in this regard on behalf of yourself and any other person named on the booking of £5,000 in total. (d) In the event of a claim under this clause against us by you or any person named on the Personal Details booking page we reserve the right to claim in your place against the person or corporation responsible for the act, default or omission giving rise to the claim and you hereby agree to assign to us all your rights under this clause and we will be subrogated to those rights and you hereby agree to assist us fully in the event that we enforce the rights which have been assigned to us or to which we are subrogated. (e) We take the safety and security of our clients extremely seriously. If the Foreign Office advises that people should not visit a particular country, then we would act on this. However, we are sure you appreciate from press and television coverage that the political, economic and social conditions in many countries are not as stable as we are used to. Sadly crimes against both people and their property are a fact of life the world over, and when in a foreign county it is very important to be extra vigilant and avoid drawing attention to yourself by wearing expensive jewellery, carrying expensive camera equipment etc. Travellers have the same responsibility for their personal safety and that of their possessions, as they do at home. As situations in countries can change rapidly, we would suggest you may wish to visit the Foreign Office Travel Advice website at www.gov.uk/foreigntravel-advice for up to date information and advice regarding safety BEFORE BOOKING YOUR HOLIDAY. Newmarket Holidays Ltd operate to many parts of the world, some of which do not conform to British health and safety standards. We request that all our hotels comply with the local regulations applicable in their country for health and safety but we cannot guarantee that these meet British standards. 8 TRAVEL INSURANCE - Because of the importance of having adequate insurance cover we make it a condition of booking on all cruise holidays that you are covered by an insurance policy that it provides health cover including cover for pre-existing medical

conditions. If you elect not to take our insurance, you will be required to provide us with the alternative cover you have in place, including the name of the insurer, policy number and most importantly the phone number of the insurer’s Emergency Assistance service. You agree to indemnify Newmarket Holidays Ltd. for any costs that arise which would otherwise have been met had Newmarket Holidays Ltd insurance been taken. Please note that, if you take out our insurance, certain claims will be subject to an excess charge and that your insurance premium will be dependent on your date of birth. We have no liability for any loss or damage to luggage inflight or in transit. Any claims of this nature should be referred directly to your insurer. 9 FINANCIAL PROTECTION & REPATRIATION - In line with the EC Directive on package travel, Newmarket Holidays Ltd offers complete financial protection for all customers. Newmarket Holidays Ltd is a fullybonded member of ABTA - The Association of British Travel Agents (membership number V7812), ensuring both your financial protection and high standards of professionalism and reliability. Therefore you can book and travel with Newmarket Holidays Ltd in total confidence that your money and your holiday are safe. In the unlikely event of the company failing while you are abroad, the ABTA bond will be used to repatriate you. When you buy an ATOL protected flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists the flight, accommodation, car hire and/or other services that are financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

Important Information SUPPLIERS’ CONDITIONS - Many of the services which make up your holiday are provided by independent suppliers. Some of these terms and conditions may limit or exclude the supplier’s liability to you, usually in accordance with applicable International Conventions. Copies of the relevant parts of these terms and conditions and particularly the Terms and Conditions of Carriage at Sea of the carrier providing your Cruise are available on request from ourselves. FITNESS TO TRAVEL - We strive to give all our customers full care and attention, but we do need to know at the time of booking if there are any special needs or requirements. It is particularly important that we are advised of any disabilities and also if you intend to bring any specialist equipment such as a wheelchair with you. Please make sure you send in full details when booking. These will be acknowledged on your Confirmation of Reservation. SPECIAL REQUESTS - We endeavour to comply with any special request you may have by passing them through to the ship; however, we cannot guarantee that all requests will be met, since they may be outside our control. ITINERARY - You will receive your final Itinerary and Journey Instructions approximately 10-14 days prior to departure, provided all payments have been made.
