Introducing European river-cruising your way! This wonderful collection of holidays marries discovery and exploration of some of Europe’s most scenic corners with the enjoyment of life aboard some of the most contemporary and stylish river-cruise vessels afloat. As each wonderful day slowly unfolds – life on the river is always lived in the slow lane – you’ll discover something new to savour and enjoy. It might be the ever-changing landscape viewed from the lounge or the ship’s sun deck, a fascinating port of call explored under your own steam or on an organised excursion, the conviviality of drinks or a meal with new found friends, or simply enjoying the ship’s wide range of amenities – the choice, and the holiday pleasures – are always yours.

Premium Inclusive, flexible, contemporary – the A-ROSA difference In addition to well-planned itineraries that mean, whichever river you choose to explore, you’ll discover new places and enjoy new experiences each day, your A-ROSA ship will be the perfect floating home-from-home throughout your journey. Amongst the most spacious vessels seen on Europe’s waterways – each being constructed to take account of the maximum allowable width on each river – A-ROSA ships are first and foremost oases of comfort and style. They offer plush lounges and bars, chic, well-appointed cabins and modern bathrooms, bright, airy restaurants and dining spaces, vast top decks that offer the chance of al fresco dining and drinks, a pool or whirlpool, games, loungers and the passing views, as well as an on-board SPA-ROSA and gym. Why would you ever wish to step ashore? Drinks on board – including top-quality brands – are offered on a Premium Inclusive basis throughout the day, and mealtimes are flexible, allowing you to enjoy not only breakfast, but also lunch and dinner at your convenience, rather than the restaurant’s. With free Wi-Fi and little touches like a gift of a rose, complimentary bathrobes, pool towel, slippers, bottled water and toiletries in each cabin, a holiday aboard an A-ROSA river-cruise ship, whichever waterway you’ve chosen to discover, is guaranteed to be a very special experience.

Dine how you wish…

Flexible mealtimes, ‘live cooking’ by the ship’s chefs, healthy options and a wide choice from breakfast to dinner The chance to enjoy good food in relaxed surroundings is always one of the pleasures of any holiday, and dining aboard your A-ROSA vessel is no exception. Mealtimes, from breakfast to dinner, are flexibility itself, with generous opening hours at the gourmet buffet and ‘live-cooking' stations from the ship’s skilled chefs, ensuring freshly prepared dishes, and plenty of healthy options from which to choose. Awake each day in anticipation of the excitement to come, and whether you’re an early riser or someone who likes to take things a little slower – perhaps heading for a stroll on the sun deck or even ashore, if your ship is tied up alongside – the excellent breakfast station awaits you. …when you wish! At lunchtime, whether you’re sailing or returning from a morning ashore, make your unhurried way to the dining room, where once again the chefs will have prepared delicious, fresh choices to enjoy. Perhaps there’s a regional speciality to sample, dependent upon where you find yourself, adding to the pleasure of the day. On especially sunny days, you can swap the dining room for the sun deck, where a barbecue and grill offer opportunities to enjoy al fresco meals as you take in the passing scenery. When evening comes, and the day’s activities have drawn to a close, perhaps enjoy a cocktail in the bar, before heading to the dining room where the evening meal awaits. Take your time over dinner, and perhaps end the evening back in the lounge, where there’s light entertainment to enjoy. If your ship is alongside for the evening, the flexibility in the dining room comes into its own, meaning that you can grab a bite before heading ashore to sample the atmosphere in a colourful shore-side town or village, or alternatively enjoy a pre-dinner drink ashore before returning to the ship – the choices, as ever, are yours.

Treat yourself to an A-ROSA Dining Evening For a special occasion while on the river, don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy an A-ROSA Dining Evening. For a small extra charge, enjoy a served, multi-course meal, in the smart, slightly more formal dining room, accompanied by fine wine from the ship’s extensive list.

In addition to the pleasures of the dining room and the comforts of your cabin, your A-ROSA river-cruise ship offers a host of on-board amenities to guarantee your enjoyment of a holiday aboard your floating home-from-home.

By exciting day… During the day, especially if you’re gently cruising along the river, you might while away the hours in the ship’s centrepiece lounge, with its comfy sofas, coffee-tables and floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Curl up with a book, enjoy a drink from the bar, perhaps join friends for a hand or two of cards, and make plans for your next port of call. From time to time, the lounge is also where the cruise director will introduce upcoming destinations and excursions planned for your arrival – each of the cruises features at least one included tour, but there will be others available on board, to add to the pleasure.

SPA-ROSA

Relaxation, indulgence... ...and convivial evenings A feature of all the ships is a wonderfully appointed SPA-ROSA, managed by the ship’s beauty and wellness professionals. Here you can indulge and pamper the inner you with a full range of treatments, taking advantage of the discounted prices available. Enjoy 15% off on a range of beauty and wellness treatments. Whether it’s a facial or full body massage, manicure or pedicure, you can follow the experience with a session in the ship’s unique panorama sauna and relaxation room, with their views of the passing river. Alongside the spa, the energetic can burn off a few calories in a well-equipped gym, perhaps under the watchful eye of a personal trainer. During the cruise, there will also be opportunities to join various fitness and yoga classes led by the ship’s therapists.

When evening comes… If you’re aboard ship, the atmosphere is one of relaxed conviviality. Enjoy drinks at the bar, excited conversation over dinner, discussing the day’s discoveries, or looking forward to tomorrow’s. Later, join fellow passengers in the comfortable lounge, where a little light entertainment adds to the pleasure of each enjoyable evening. On starlit nights, take a turn on the top deck, or perhaps cut a few shapes on the dance floor – the house DJ will indulge most tastes – before retiring to your cabin for another peaceful night’s sleep.

Life on the sun deck

A-ROSA ALVA Sun deck

One of the most striking features of all A-ROSA ships is the vast sun deck, the focus of outdoor life aboard ship on many a sunny day and balmy evening, and which significantly adds to the pleasure of your cruise. No matter what time, there is always space to find privacy on the sun deck. From an early morning stretch or stroll to a late-night turn under the stars, the sun deck waits to welcome you. Running from ‘stem to stern’, it serves as working home to the ship’s captain – take the opportunity to meet him in the wheelhouse, as he navigates his way up or downstream – and a well-equipped, multi-faceted outdoor relaxation, recreation and dining area for holidaymaking passengers. Take in elevated, all-round views of the rivers’ passing scenery, watch the crew at work as the ship ties up in the latest port of call, and enjoy all the joys of the open air, whether at play or in lazy indulgence. Once again, the choices are yours!

Recreation, outdoor dining and stunning scenery

Equipped with plenty of sun loungers, a shaded area for when it gets too warm, and a pool or plunge pool in which to cool off, as well as a variety of deck games, including a putting green, shuffleboard court or giant chess set, the sun deck is the perfect place for total relaxation, a little exercise – from time to time there will be classes or yoga sessions to join – or some gentle competition with fellow passengers, if you have the energy or inclination that is! The beauty of life aboard ship is that you can do as much or as little as you wish. As well as all the fun activities, fine days bring the delicious smells of the deck barbecue, bringing the chance to enjoy al fresco lunch or dinner prepared by the chef, accompanied by a drink from the topsides bar. Whether you’re watching the ever-changing scenery, taking an afternoon siesta, enjoying a cocktail with newfound friends as the sun sets on another beautiful day, or even, on balmy summer evenings, simply enjoying a seat under the stars, this is the life – A-ROSA-style!

Take a dip in the pool or whirlpool, try your hand at shuffleboard or giant chess, or test your skill on the putting green. Enjoy on-deck barbecues and, of course, sit back and watch the world go by! Call us on: 0330 160 8100

The ‘Golden

River’ Douro The Douro River, Porto

Rising in Spain, the Douro marks the border with Portugal’s neighbour, then turns west to flow for 200 kilometres before spilling into the Atlantic. En route, it passes through a scenic countryside of vineyards and Port quintas, somnolent villages and ancient towns, before passing underneath Porto’s famous bridges. The river has only been fully navigable since the 1980s’ construction of a dam and lock system, and the enjoyment of your cruise is enhanced by the knowledge that you are still amongst a relatively privileged few to have viewed the Douro Valley from the river.

Lined with ripening vineyards and

dotted with ancient villages, Portugal’s most famous waterway meanders its gentle way westwards to the sea. 24

The Douro River, Portugal

Porto, Portugal

Barca d’Alva, Portugal

Built on granite bluffs high above the river, near where it spills into the Atlantic, Porto is full of fascination, with its rambling, UNESCO-listed Ribeira district and its neighbouring port wine centre of Vila Nova de Gaia on the opposite bank, linked by several vertigo-inducing bridges.

Almost at the Spanish border, which lies less than a mile away, this tiny hamlet is famed for its almond trees and, thanks to the lack of light pollution, its stunning starlit nights. Take an optional shore excursion to beautiful Salamanca from here.

Régua, Portugal This bustling riverside town, which marks the western gateway to the port-wine producing area, where vineyards have lined the river and covered the hillsides for over two thousand years, is also gateway to exquisite Lamego, with its achingly beautiful Igreja de Nossa Senora dos Remédios shrine.

Pinhão, Portugal This tiny, picture-book village lies on a bend in the river at the scenic heart of the wine-growing area, surrounded by rolling hills covered in vines. It boasts an exquisite railway station with tiles depicting harvest-time, and is close to several important wine estates.

Vega de Terrón, Spain At the point where the Douro, now the Spanish Duero, turns north, this sleepy port town is a mix of both countries, as languid as the river’s waters at this point. Lying opposite much foughtafter hilltop village Figueira de Castel Rodrigo, Vega de Terrón marks the easternmost point of the cruise, before you turn downstream once more.

This classic stretch of the Rhine upstream from Cologne, with its twin-towered cathedral, and leafy former capital Bonn, includes Koblenz, where the mighty river meets the meandering Moselle in the shadow of an imposing fortress, and takes in both the fabled UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge and the mythical Lorelei. It passes countless colourful wine towns and villages, and great sweeping bends lead into the Upper Rhine – which is dotted with historic cities, including majestic Mainz – before Black Forest gateway Breisach and Switzerland’s elegant Basel provide chances to take in yet more scenic wonders.

Breisach, Germany With its soaring Gothic cathedral – views from which stretch from the nearby Black Forest to the Alps and Vosges mountains – Breisach is a warm and welcoming gateway to a scenic land of cuckoo-clocks and rolling hills.

Strasbourg, France Flower-strewn Alsace capital and European parliament seat, Strasbourg boasts the ancient Petite France quarter, a maze of narrow streets and medieval buildings, criss-crossed by canals and watched over by the Gothic masterpiece of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

The Lower Rhine, Dutch & Belgian Waterways Nijmegen, Netherlands

Towards the end of its 750-plus-mile journey from the Alps, the river passes the wealthy Rhineland cities of former German capital Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf, to become the ‘Niederrhein’, or Lower Rhine, before flowing under the famous bridge at Arnhem into the Netherlands and on towards the North Sea. A network of rivers and canals connect the river’s vast delta to several historic cities – Nijmegen, Antwerp and Rotterdam – all of which owe their trading success to the water on which they sit. Medieval gems, picturesque towns and the vibrant burst of colour from the famous bulbfields of the Netherlands will be the backdrop to your delightful river cruise.

Here the mighty Rhine melds into the

canals and waterways of the windmilldotted landscape of the Low Countries, with their ancient trading cities. 32

The Sun-kissed Rhône  & Saône Viviers, France

Idyllic towns and villages exuding rustic Gallic charm, great cities that bear witness to the potency and architectural legacies of Burgundian dukes, conquering Romans or all-powerful medieval popes, and rolling vineyardcovered hills that testify to wine-producing fame, ensure that a holiday here is full of fascination and delight. The Saône, which rises in the high Vosges to the north, flows through the hills of Burgundy to historic Lyon, where it joins the larger Rhône, one of Europe’s most important arteries, for the onward journey into Provence and to the Mediterranean. This very special corner of the world is brought to life each day as your ship sails on from one delightful port of call to the next, with both rivers full of fascination.

The two richly contrasting and historic

regions of Burgundy and Provence, through which the languid River Saône and the mighty River Rhône make their scenic journeys south, are amongst the most alluring and enchanting of all France. 44

Once the capital of Roman Gaul, and boasting superbly preserved remains – baths, a chariot racetrack and the famed Les Arènes arena, home to Spanish-style bullfights – Arles was inspiration to Van Gogh and Gauguin, and today exudes Southern Gallic charm.

France’s UNESCO-listed second city, for centuries the wealthy centre of the silk trade, and now a prosperous gateway to both the Alps and sunkissed Provence, lies at the rivers’ meeting point, where the Rhône turns south towards the Mediterranean.

Avignon, France The fabled ‘City of the Popes’, one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval strongholds, is dominated by the monumental Palais des Papes, and is an engaging, bustling city, centred on the Place d’Horloge, which is lined with cafés and market stalls – the perfect spot from which to watch the world go by. Don’t miss the crumbling remains of the Pont St-Bénézet, the ‘pont d’Avignon’ of the famous French folk song.

Chalon-Sur-Saône, France This historic Côte d’Or town boasts a beautiful medieval quarter, a fascinating wine museum and another dedicated to local Joseph Niepe, the inventor of photography.

Tournon, France This beautiful Rhône town is in an idyllic location set opposite vineyard-clad slopes beneath the towers of its ancient castle.

The Beautiful Seine Valley Rouen, France

The great, meandering artery that winds its lazy way from one of the world’s great cities through some of the most enticing, most bucolic countryside of all France, continuing a 480-mile journey that takes it from the country’s southeast corner to the river’s estuary at Le Havre, is another wonderful waterway upon which to enjoy an A-ROSA cruise. Sit back and enjoy a holiday spent gently sailing through a pastoral, richly forested region that is dotted with idyllic towns and villages, ancient ruins and historic cities that include the restored medieval gem of Rouen and Giverny-gateway Vernon, discover a land of cidre, calvados and ripe, soft cheeses, and of course crown it all with an exploration of France’s glorious capital.

France’s most famous river, synonymous with the country’s glorious capital, is gateway to the ‘City of Light’ and Normandy’s stunning scenery.

The Beautiful Seine

Caudebec-en-Caux, France

Paris, France

Vernon, France

Selected Ports of Call Caudebec-en-Caux, France

Rouen, France

Set beneath the engineering marvel of the Pont de Bretonne, Caudebec, with its cathedral and 13th-century Knights Templars’ house, is gateway to the Normandy coast and pretty, Impressionists’ retreat Honfleur.

The lovingly restored capital of Upper Normandy is a true delight. Step ashore to explore the city, with its poignant place du Vieux-Marché, site of Saint Joan’s martyrdom, its famous one-handed mechanical clock, the Gros Horloge, and its truly stunning Gothic cathedral, featured in many of Claude Monet’s most famous works.

Les Andelys, France Seen from the Seine, as it winds its tree-lined way through the Normandy countryside, beneath steep chalk cliffs, Richard the Lionheart’s towering Château Gaillard above tiny Les Andelys is a striking sight, instantly transporting you back to a time when power depended upon command of the river from above.

Paris, France One of the world’s best-loved cities, the glorious ‘City of Light’ outranks any other Seine ports of call by some distance. With its fabled sights – including the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, the Arc de Triomphe and Sacré-Cœur – its ‘grands boulevards’, museums and storied galleries, and of course with its vibrant café-life and irrepressible joie de vivre, it is no wonder that Paris is always on top of people’s ‘mustsee’ or ‘must-return-to’ wishlists.

Vernon, France With its medieval, half-timbered buildings clustered beneath the surviving round tower of its onceformidable castle, and with its streets lined with cafés and colourful shops, Vernon is a delight. Its proximity to artist Claude Monet’s world-famous gardens at Giverny, make it an even more popular port of call.

Joining your river cruise We offer three ways to join most of these A-ROSA cruise holidays, giving you the freedom to choose flight or rail-inclusive travel arrangements (except on the Douro and Danube cruises) and the chance to make your own way to the ship at the quayside. The options available are shown on each cruise description page, with prices, flight and train times shown on pages 67-71. Flight and rail-inclusive holidays include coach transfers from the airport/station to the A-ROSA ship.

Flight-Inclusive We offer departures inclusive of flights and transfers directly to the quayside on all these A-ROSA cruises, with a choice of departure airports shown on each cruise description page and on pages 67–69. This is often the quickest way of travelling out to the ship, and sometimes includes the added bonus, dependent upon your arrival time, of an opportunity for some pre-embarkation sightseeing.

Rail-Inclusive On all Rhine, Rhône/Saône and Seine cruises, you can ‘let the train take the strain’ by departing from either London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet station and travelling out to join your ship by superfast Eurostar™ and onward rail connections and coach transfers to the quayside. Please note that Rhine cruises embarking in Cologne and Rhône/Saône cruises embarking in Lyon will necessitate changing trains in Brussels, Paris or Lille. Train times are shown on page 70.

Cruise Only Make your own arrangements and join your chosen A-ROSA ship at the port of embarkation – perhaps you are combining the cruise with another holiday or would like to extend your stay before or after departure. Please note it is your responsibility to arrive in good time for embarkation, which always takes place during the afternoon. We will provide details of the exact departure point and embarkation timing with your holiday Final Travel Details. Prices for Cruise-Only arrangements are shown on page 71.

Your Holiday Essentials Before you go Passports & Visas

You will need a full 10-year British passport (valid for a further three months on return to the UK). The Passport Office may be contacted on 0300 222 0000. British Citizens do not require visas to enter Europe. Citizens of other countries should contact the embassy of the country they are travelling to for clarification. Newmarket Holidays cannot accept responsibility for entry or travel being refused due to the failure on the part of any customer to produce correct documentation.

Customers With Health Concerns In order to advise you of any accessibility issues, it is essential that you let us have details of any special requests you may have at the time of booking. The ships do not have a lift and they have several steps leading down to the restaurant and others leading up to the Sun Deck. Therefore, this holiday is unsuitable for passengers who are totally confined to a wheelchair, and may not be suitable for passengers

with restricted mobility. Collapsible wheelchairs are most suitable but can only be used for shore use and must be stored in your cabin. Electric scooters are not permitted. If you have suffered from a serious medical condition recently, then you should consult with your doctor about your fitness to travel. No inoculations are required for travel within Europe, and standards of healthcare are good or excellent at all our destinations.

Travel Insurance Travel insurance can play an essential part in ensuring you enjoy peace of mind during your holiday, and appropriate cover is recommended on a Newmarket holiday abroad. You don’t need to purchase your travel insurance from us, but we do offer good value, comprehensive travel insurance as detailed in the section on page 97.

Joining Instructions Approximately 10-14 days prior to departure you will receive your final Itinerary and Joining Instructions, provided all payments have been made. These will include details of your flights, rail timings, ship embarkation point and will

Call us on: 0330 160 8100

tell you anything else you need to know before you travel.

Special Requests We endeavour to comply with any special requests you may have by passing them through to the ship, however, we cannot guarantee that all such requests will be met, since they may be outside our control. Please note that we guarantee your cabin type as booked, and will do our best to accommodate cabin requests, but cannot guarantee a particular cabin.

Your journey Luggage

One piece of airline hold luggage per person is included in the price. Weight and dimension limits will apply and will vary between airlines. We will send you up-todate information about your hold and hand baggage allowance just prior to your departure. Keep your passport, important documents and medication in your hand luggage. Please note that non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin space.

Your ABC of On-Board Information

Air Conditioning

Bars

Concierge Service

Just like the entire ship, your cabin also has air-conditioning. The cabin temperature can be individually adjusted. When you open the balcony door, the air circulation unit is automatically switched off.

Each of the A-ROSA ships offers an indoor bar/lounge bar and outdoor bar and lounge. The locations of these will differ from vessel to vessel (see individual deck plans) and the provision of the outdoor facilities is weather-dependent. Opening hours will be found in the Daily Programme in your cabin.

Our reception team will be available to fulfil your individual requirements (e.g. reservation of tickets for cultural experiences or special excursions, organisation of transfers). On the A-ROSA FLORA all suite guests may use our new butler service. We are available 24 hours for any request.

All-Inclusive Guests can expect soft and alcoholic drinks all day (including beer, wine, selected spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, water, speciality teas and coffee), an embarkation snack, a delicious and well-balanced breakfast station, an extensive lunch station, tea and coffee hour and an excellent dinner station in the evening (on the Douro sailings the dinner has a served main course). Many cruises also include seasonal extras such as sandwiches or a midnight snack. All inclusive starts at check-in (normally 2pm) and ends at 9am on the last day. Outside of this is chargable.

Pets Pets are not allowed on-board ship.

Announcements Loudspeaker announcements can be heard on deck and in the cabins (via on-board TV) and are mainly made prior to shore excursions and important events and for special points of interest along the river.

77

Call us on: 0330 160 8100

Bathrobes Bathrobes are available upon request from your cabin steward/ess, if they are not placed in the cabin already.

Bicycles/Biking For more information on the cycling excursions, please contact the on-board A-ROSA SPA department or ask at reception. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take your own bikes on the cruise.

Clothing On-board and during the shore excursions, you can wear what you like. Dress code is comfortable and casual. Please remember to bring warmer clothes for the evenings out on deck. For the shore excursions, we recommend you bring sturdy shoes. For the restaurant we recommend smart casual dress.

Visit us online: www.newmarketholidays.co.uk

Connecting Doors On the ships A-ROSA AQUA, VIVA and FLORA, every deck has at least two cabins with connecting doors. These can also be used as family cabins.

Customs Tariff Regulations Please observe the valid customs tariff regulations when importing and exporting goods and foreign currencies.

Daily Programme For all important information and instructions, please see your A-ROSA Journal, which will be placed in your cabin each evening.

Deckchairs On the sun deck you will find deckchairs and a sun canopy. In the interest of all passengers, please don’t reserve deckchairs. Woollen blankets for cooler weather on deck can be found in your cabin.

Disabled Guests and Guests in Need of Assistance All ships have stairs and are not equipped with lifts and are not suitable for passengers with restricted mobility.

Doctor Although there are no medical facilities aboard ship, we can rely upon the medical treatment available due to the infrastructure of the travel region.

Drinking Water The water on board is drinkable and bottled water is provided in your cabin.

Excursions Almost all ports of call are starting points for interesting shore excursions. For more information, please see page 64-65. Please also make use of the onboard information event on the first evening (embarkation day): bookings can be made on board. A-ROSA is only acting as an agent for the excursions offered. The local agencies will act as tour operators to organise and accompany the excursions.

Going Ashore In the EU, you can leave the ship as soon as we dock. In non-EU countries, you can only leave the ship after permission is granted by the local authorities. In your own interest, we request that you are back on board no later than 30 minutes before we cast off. The

docking times may change at short notice. Please pay attention to announcements and information in the daily programme. Please pick up your shore pass from the front desk, before going ashore. After returning on board, please hand the pass back to the reception. The shore passes are used to check whether all guests are back on board.

Hairdryers A hairdryer can be found in your cabin (not the bathroom) in one of the drawers near the mirror or in the wardrobe.

Insect Screens For protection against insects, an insect screen in the form of a roller blind/sliding element is attached to the outside of the balcony door. When operating the roller blind, please be careful to exert equal force on both sides in order to prevent it from getting stuck. It can be locked at the bottom.

Itinerary You can find the planned itinerary in the brochure. The information is subject to change. High and low water, maintenance work and waiting times at locks and bridges due to shipping traffic may result in short-notice changes to the itinerary. In rare cases of extremely high or low water or force majeure, parts of the itinerary may have to be completed by bus or train and in individual cases overnight stays in hotels may be necessary.

Key Card This card is your A-ROSA key and credit card. Please always carry your key with you. In case of loss, please notify the reception immediately.

Laundry In your wardrobe, you will find laundry bags and order notes for our laundry service. This will be charged to your on-board account. Suite guests may enjoy the laundry service free of charge.

Methods of Payment The on-board currency is euros. During the cruise, you can use your on-board credit card on the ship, and this also acts as your cabin’s key card. At the end of the cruise, you can pay your final bill either in cash, with traveller’s cheques (in euros), with Maestro card or with the following credit cards: American Express, MasterCard or Visa.

Money Changing Unfortunately, there are no on-board money changing facilities. However, bureaux de change can be found in the vicinity of our docking locations.

Mooring Area In some towns, it is usual for the port authorities to assign several ships the same mooring area due to the large volume of shipping traffic. In such cases, the ships are moored next to each other and you may not be able to see out of your cabin properly and you may need to exit across other vessels whilst going ashore. Unfortunately, A-ROSA has no influence over this.

Travel Insurance Peace of Mind Travel insurance can play an essential part in ensuring you are able to enjoy every moment of your time on holiday, without worrying what might happen should bad luck befall you. Hence, we suggest that everyone travelling abroad with Newmarket has travel insurance. This must be either the Newmarket Travel Insurance policy underwritten by AWP P&C SA and administered in the UK by Allianz Global Assistance, or an alternative travel insurance policy. The Newmarket travel insurance policy is only available to UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man residents and English law will apply.

The Cover – Main Features; Limits/Excesses applicable

The policy provides cover for: • Overseas Emergency Medical and Associated Expenses – up to £5 million (less £70 excess) where applicable • Personal Accident – up to £15,000 • Cancellation or Curtailment Charges – up to the cost of the holiday (less maximum excess of £70) • Abandonment of the holiday – up to the cost of the holiday (less £70 excess)

The Policy Document

• Personal Possessions – up to £1,000 in total (less £70 excess) including up to £500 for valuables

This will be sent to you with your confirmation of reservation. It is the full terms and conditions of the policy.

• Delayed Personal Possessions – up to £75 • Personal Money – up to £250 (less £70 excess)

Excess Waiver Insurance

• Loss of Passport – up to £250

If an excess applies, you can avoid this being deducted from a successful claim by taking out optional Excess Waiver Insurance in addition to the policy.

• Missed Departure – up to £800 • Personal Liability – up to £1 million • Legal Expenses – up to £10,000

The Premium

The Cover –

The cost of the policy is £26 (5-9 days), £32 (10-15 days), £51 (1629 days) for EUROPEAN BREAKS. The cost of Excess Waiver Insurance is £7 for each person aged 2 or over at the date of travel. All premiums are inclusive of Insurance Premium Tax at the current rate. You must pay all applicable premiums at the time of booking and cover starts from the moment we receive these monies.

Significant Health Exclusions; Health Declaration

The policy does not cover any claim arising from a medical condition for which, at the time of taking out the policy, an insured person: • Is being prescribed regular medication; or • Has received treatment for or had a consultation with a doctor or hospital specialist in the past 12 months; or

The cost of our travel insurance policy is slightly higher for customers aged 70-79, and for those over 80. Please see online or call us for exact prices.

• Is being referred to, treated by or under the care of a doctor or a hospital specialist; or • Is awaiting treatment or the results of any tests or investigations; or • Has been diagnosed with or treated for cancer in the last 5 years unless the condition(s) has (have) been declared, and accepted in writing. Please call the confidential medical line on 0330 123 3702 if you need to declare a medical condition, if you develop a medical condition after the policy was issued, if your existing medical condition changes after the policy was issued or if you are unsure whether a medical condition needs to be declared or not. This helpline will be able to tell you whether or not cover can be provided for your medical condition(s). You do not have to declare minor ailments e.g. hay fever, colds/flu, ear infections, dental treatment if you have had no further problems since or if you have been advised by your doctor that it is safe to travel. An additional premium may be payable.

Cancellation Rights If your cover does not meet your requirements, please return the documentation within 14 days of receipt and your premium will be refunded in full unless you have travelled made a claim or intend to make a claim.

Making a complaint The policy contains a complaints procedure which tells you what steps you can take if you wish to make a complaint.

Government advice is to be adequately covered According to a poll gathered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office 24% of travellers are still going abroad without suitable travel insurance, risking thousands of pounds of expenses, 48% of people don’t realise that without travel insurance they’d be liable to pay for their own medical bills abroad.

Important Information YOUR FINANCIAL PROTECTION – Your holiday

and your money are fully protected when you book with Newmarket Holidays. In line with the EC Directive on Package Travel, Newmarket Holidays, offers complete financial protection for all customers through our ABTA and ATOL bonds.

BOOKING – Providing clear, correct information

when making your booking is essential, for it is from this information that we make your reservation and our contract with you. The person to whom all correspondence, invoices and joining instructions are to be sent, should be entered as the first name. It is also their address and telephone number(s) that should be shown and it must be they who accept these Terms and Conditions before completing a booking. Other names are required by airlines, insurance companies, hoteliers etc., so please be accurate. For foreign holidays it is essential that these names match those on the passports. If any member of your party, e.g. newlyweds, changes their name between booking this holiday and travelling, it is important to provide these details so that we can issue the tickets in the new name. If there is not time to amend the passport the marriage certificate should be carried in the passport. We need to know the number of children under the age of two, and those between the ages of two and 16 who may

qualify for a 10% discount if they are sharing a room with two adults where a specific child price is not shown. We do not accept bookings from any unaccompanied passengers under the age of 18. In order to travel aboard the ships, it is a requirement that passengers read and sign, or in the case of web bookings acknowledge that they have read, the Booking Conditions, which cover the detailed terms and conditions under which bookings are accepted. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure all the ship’s manifest information, including, but not limited to, full names, dates of birth, passport details, travel insurance and medical declarations are provided to the company in a timely manner. Failure to provide such information and assigned acknowledgement of our Booking Conditions could result in a delay in boarding at Embarkation or, in extreme circumstances, the permissions to board being refused.

YOUR ITINERARY – We endeavour to follow the itinerary advertised in the brochure, although please note, due to water levels on the river and circumstances beyond our control, we may need to change the order in which the itinerary is operated, our ports of call, or our dayto-day activities. On the rare occasion this happens, the International Host will keep you fully informed. BROCHURE DETAILS – All information in this brochure was correct at the time of going to print and any errors are

unintentional. The availability of some services, facilities and attractions may vary due to circumstances outside of our control, such as poor weather conditions and a change in water levels on the river, lack of demand and technical problems. We cannot predict these occurrences in advance and do not accept liability if attractions are not open or available, although we will do our best to provide alternatives.

DELAYS – Occasionally, flights, the ship and trains may

be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will do our utmost to help you and keep you fully informed. In the event of extended overnight delays, depending upon circumstances, we will endeavour to provide accommodation. In the case of a major delay to your homeward journey, we shall endeavour to delay the departure from the ship.

HOLIDAY EXTRAS NOT BOOKED WITH NEWMARKET - We cannot be held responsible for

compensation in respect of any extras which are booked (e.g. travel insurance, transport including but not limited to flights and rail, currency, theatre tickets) with a third party, if we subsequently cancel your holiday for whatever reason. If you book your travel insurance with us, you would receive a full refund in this circumstance.

Booking Conditions Please read carefully We want you to enjoy every minute of your A-ROSA cruise, and we’ll do our very best to try to ensure that it lives up to your expectations. We believe that our more than 30 years of tour operating experience, together with the reputation we have for quality and value, should give you the confidence to book with us. To give you further peace of mind, we accept your booking on the basis of our Terms and Conditions, which are designed to clarify the contractual obligations between us. Please spend some time reading them carefully, and please feel free to contact us should anything be unclear.

Your Contract With Us 1 YOUR BOOKING - Your booking, once accepted

and confirmed in writing to you, represents a contract between all persons named on the Booking and Newmarket Holidays Ltd (The Company). When you make a booking you guarantee that you have the authority to accept and do accept on behalf of your party the terms of these booking conditions. The contract is based on the information given in the brochure and the terms laid out in the following Booking Conditions. This agreement is governed by English Law and jurisdiction is conferred on the Courts of England and Wales only unless, in the case of Court proceedings, you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. In this case, proceedings must either be brought in the Courts of your home country or those of England and Wales. If proceedings are brought in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may choose to have your contract and claim governed by the law of Scotland/Northern Ireland as applicable (but if you do not so choose, English law will apply). We do not accept bookings from any unaccompanied passengers under the age of 18.

2 YOUR PAYMENT - Your Confirmation of Reservation includes an invoice showing the deposit paid and the final balance due. The outstanding amount must be paid by the due date. Should we not receive payment by this date we shall cancel your travel arrangements, in which case you could be liable to pay cancellation charges according to the scale set out in ‘Your Cancellations’ below. N.B. 1: The person making the booking with us does so in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and with the understanding that the information they provide is a requirement of the contract between us. He/ she becomes directly responsible to the Company for the payment of the total holiday price and if applicable, and where appropriate, for the cancellation charges and disbursements of any funds. The person making the booking does so on behalf of all persons named on it, and is responsible for ensuring that all the Personal Data provided is accurate and for ensuring that all persons named on the booking are aware of these Terms and Conditions and consent to the person making the booking acting on their behalf in relation to this booking.

3 YOUR ALTERATIONS - If you want to change any

of the details of your booking, we will always do our best to help. We will however make amendments charges of £50 per person as a contribution to our administrative expenses, any applicable rate changes, any costs incurred by us or imposed on us by any of our suppliers. We also reserve the right to make additional charges to cover in full any costs imposed on us by our suppliers. Only one amendment per booking can be made and 90 days or less before departure changes may not be approved. Charges must be paid when the amendment is requested and are non-refundable should you later decide to cancel. All amendments must be notified to us in writing, by telephone or by email by the person who made the

original booking. Only one change of name is permitted per booking. N.B. 2: If an amendment involves a change of name, insurance premiums are not transferable. Where any change is made to a booking involving travel by air, we reserve the right to make additional charges to cover in full any costs charged to us by our suppliers.

4 YOUR CANCELLATION - You may cancel your

booking or part of it once it has been confirmed but the cancellation will only be valid if made in writing direct to the Company or by telephone to our Customer Service team and having answered the security questions. If the cancellation results in a person travelling alone, a single room supplement is payable. The amount payable on cancellation depends upon when we receive your written instructions - the more notice you give, the less we will charge. The different periods before departure date within which written instructions are received by Newmarket Holidays Ltd. and the amounts of cancellation charged in each period (shown as a percentage of the total holiday price excluding insurance premium which is not refundable) are as follows: 90 days or more before departure

Loss of deposit

71 - 89 days

30% of total price (or deposit if greater)

50 - 70 days

50% of total price (or deposit if greater)

29-49 days

75% of total price (or deposit if greater)

28 days or less

100% of total price

N.B. 3: If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of an insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges. You can cancel your booking without paying cancellation charges if the performance of your package, or the carriage of passengers to your destination, is significantly affected by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. In such circumstances, w e will arrange for your booking to be terminated and for you to receive a full refund. We will observe advice provided by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office. Dates of your holiday may be changed, prior to the due date of the balance, only once and this will incur a fee. Further alteration of dates cannot be accommodated and will result in the cancellation of your holiday.

5 YOUR COMPLAINTS - In the unlikely event that

you have problems whilst on holiday, you MUST report the matter to the on-board Passenger Services Officer IMMEDIATELY. If the matter is not then satisfactorily resolved, you must complete a written report (form available). You must then follow up any complaint in writing within twenty-eight of your return, including a copy of the original report form. If you fail to follow the requirement to report your complaint on board we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify it and this may affect your rights under this contract. We operate a strict code of conduct which also conforms to European regulations on package travel and take any complaints received seriously. However, in order to be fair to all concerned, complaints will be considered only where the above procedure has been followed.

6 YOUR TRAVELLING CONDITIONS - Where

as part of the holiday you have booked your travel by air, land or sea, such travel will be subject to the terms and conditions of carriage of the airline, shipping, rail or coach company providing the transport. In most cases, the conditions will limit the carrier’s liability to you in accordance with international law. Should anyone be refused admission to the coach or ship, or to the

Visit us online: www.newmarketholidays.co.uk

destination country by the transport or government authority, then we are powerless to assist and cannot be held responsible. This includes any passenger who fails to advise us of any medical condition or disability. If you are prevented from travelling as a result, our responsibility for your holiday thereupon ceases. Full cancellation charges will apply and we will be under no obligation whatsoever for any refund, compensation or loss you may incur. Copies of the relevant parts of the Terms and Conditions are available on request.

Our Contract With You 1 OUR CONFIRMATION OF RESERVATION - When we have received your booking and deposit

we will send you a Confirmation of Reservation which details exactly what is booked for you. From this moment Newmarket Holidays Ltd has accepted your booking on the terms set out in this Contract.

2 THE CRUISE PRICE - Once you have booked, we

guarantee to not change the price of your holiday with us.

SYSTEM ERRORS - We try hard to ensure that

advertised prices are up to date, and reflect the price you will pay when you book. However, prices can change and errors can occasionally occur. We reserve the right to change and correct advertised prices at any time before your booking is confirmed. In the event of your Confirmation of Reservation showing an incorrect price for your holiday, the price that will prevail is the price confirmed to us by the cruise operator, as we act as a travel agent for these bookings. Accordingly you may not seek to rely on system errors with a view to obtaining a holiday at less than the correct price, and any contract entered into upon a mistake, such as a wrong costing due to system errors, is not valid or binding.

3 DATA PROTECTION – In order to confirm and

process your booking, we need to collect Personal Data for all the people named on the booking. We reserve the right to process, store and share any and all of the information we collect with our suppliers as we deem necessary to fulfil the contract between us and to comply with national and international law.To find out more about how we use and protect your Personal Data, please visit www.newmarketholidays.co.uk/privacy

4 OUR ALTERATIONS - It is unlikely that we will have

to make any changes to your holiday but we do plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance. Occasionally changes may be made, which we reserve the right to do at any time. Most of these changes are insignificant and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. Examples of insignificant changes include alteration of your outward/return flights by less than 12 hours, changes to aircraft type, change of accommodation/cabin to another of the same or higher standard, changes of carriers, cancellation of an optional excursion. A significant change is one that we make to your holiday arrangements before departure that involves changing your resort area, or time of departure or return by more than twelve hours, or offering accommodation/cabin with a lower official classification than that advertised (except the latter in the case of en route tour hotels). If a significant change becomes necessary we will inform you as soon as is reasonably possible if there is time before your departure. When a significant change occurs you will have the choice of either accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available holiday from us (we will refund any price difference if alternative is of lower value), or cancelling your holiday and receiving a full refund of

all monies paid (we will also provide a full refund of your travel insurance premiums if you purchased insurance from us). When a significant change occurs, provided it does not arise from circumstances amounting to force majeure (see below), we will pay compensation as detailed below, based on how far ahead of departure the change is advised: Charge 15 - 28 days £10, 0 - 14 days £25 N.B. 4: We will not pay you compensation where the significant change is due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, which means a situation beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport.

5 OUR CANCELLATIONS - We reserve the right

to cancel your holiday and in this event we will return to you all money you have paid to us or will offer you an alternative, available holiday to purchase of comparable standard. In no case, except for reasons of war etc, (see N.B. 4, above) will your holiday be cancelled after the date when your final balance becomes due.

6 OUR COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE - Newmarket Holidays Ltd is a Member of ABTA with membership number V7812. ABTA Members help holidaymakers to get the most from their travel and assist them when things do not go according to plan. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to y ou by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you ABTA’s scheme for the resolution of disputes which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute.

We can normally agree an amicable settlement of the few complaints we receive. However, if we cannot agree, disputes arising out of, or in connection with this Contract may (if the customer so wishes) be referred to ABTA. Go to www.abta.com to use ABTA’s simple procedure. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta.com. You can also access the European Commission Online Dispute (ODR) Resolution platform at http://ec.europa. eu/consumers/odr/. This ODR platform is a means of notifying us of your complaint; it will not determine how your complaint should be resolved. Redress under this Scheme requires written notice requesting arbitration to be made within nine months of scheduled date of return from the holiday. Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury or illness, shall be limited to a maximum of three times the cost of your travel arrangements. Our liability will also be limited in accordance with and/or in an identical manner to a) The contractual terms of the companies that provide the travel services that make up your package. These terms are incorporated into this booking; and b) Any relevant international convention, for example the Montreal Convention in respect of travel by air, the Athens Convention in respect of travel by sea, the Berne Convention in respect of travel by rail and the Paris Convention in respect of the provision of accommodation, which limit the amount of and conditions under which compensation can be claimed for death, injury, delay to passengers and loss, damage and delay to luggage. We are to be regarded as having all benefit of any limitation of the extent of or the conditions under which compensation is to be paid under these or any conventions. Under EU law (Regulation 261/2004) you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/ or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Full details will be publicised at EU airports and available from airlines. However reimbursement in such cases will not automatically entitle you to a refund of your holiday cost from us. Your right to a refund and/or compensation from us is set out in these booking conditions. If any payments to you are due from us, any payment made to you by the airline or any other service provider will be deducted. If it is impossible to ensure your return as scheduled due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, we will bear the cost of necessary accommodation, if possible of equivalent category, for a maximum of three nights. The limit doesn’t apply to persons with reduced mobility and any person accompanying them, pregnant women and unaccompanied minors, or persons in need of specific medical assistance, provided that you notified us of these needs at least 48 hours before the start of your holiday. N.B. 5: This entire clause does not apply to any separate contracts that you may enter into for excursions or activities whilst on holiday.

7 OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR HOLIDAY - (a) Although we have no direct control over services

provided to you by independent suppliers we accept responsibility for the reasonable standard of the holiday which you book. If any part is not provided as promised, we will pay you appropriate compensation if this has affected the enjoyment of your holiday. (b) We accept responsibility if you or any person named on the booking

suffers bodily injury, illness or death due to the negligent acts and/or omissions of: (i) our employees or agents; or (ii) our suppliers or sub-contractors, servants or agents whilst acting within the scope or in the course of their employment to provide any service or arrangement forming part of the holiday that you have booked with us save that we do not accept responsibility for any air or sea carriers whose liabilities are limited by the relevant International Conventions. Any such claims will be subject to and dealt with in accordance with English Law, and will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales only unless, in the case of Court proceedings, you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland. (c) We shall give you assistance in the event that you suffer illness, personal injury or death during the period of your holiday overseas arising out of an activity which does not form part either of the holiday arrangement with us or an excursion offered through us. This assistance will include advice and guidance and, at our discretion and where appropriate, financial assistance subject to our spending a maximum amount in this regard on behalf of yourself and any other person named on the booking of £5,000 in total. (d) In the event of a claim under this clause against us by you or any person named on the booking we reserve the right to claim in your place against the person or corporation responsible for the act, default or omission giving rise to the claim and you hereby agree to assign to us all your rights under this clause and we will be subrogated to those rights and you hereby agree to assist us fully in the event that we enforce the rights which have been assigned to us or to which we are subrogated. (e) We take the safety and security of our clients extremely seriously. If the Foreign Office advises that people should not visit a particular country, then we would act on this. However, we are sure you appreciate from press and television coverage that the political, economic and social conditions in many countries are not as stable as we are used to. Sadly crimes against both people and their property are a fact of life the world over, and when in a foreign county it is very important to be extra vigilant and avoid drawing attention to yourself by wearing expensive jewellery, carrying expensive camera equipment etc. Travellers have the same responsibility for their personal safety and that of their possessions, as they do at home. As situations in countries can change rapidly, we would suggest you may wish to visit the Foreign Office Travel Advice website at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice for up to date information and advice regarding safety BEFORE BOOKING YOUR HOLIDAY. Newmarket Holidays Ltd operate to many parts of the world, some of which do not conform to British health and safety standards. We request that all our hotels comply with the local regulations applicable in their country for health and safety but we cannot guarantee that these meet British standards.

8 TRAVEL INSURANCE - Because of the

importance of having adequate insurance cover we make it a condition of booking on all foreign holidays that you are covered by an insurance policy that it provides health cover including cover for pre-existing medical conditions. If you elect not to take our insurance, you will be required to provide us with the alternative cover you have in place, including the name of the insurer, policy number and most importantly the phone number of the insurer’s Emergency Assistance service. You agree to indemnify Newmarket Holidays Ltd. for any costs that arise which would otherwise have been met had Newmarket Holidays Ltd insurance been taken. Please note that, if you take out our insurance, certain claims will be subject to an excess charge and that your insurance premium will be dependent on your date of birth. We have no liability for any loss or damage to luggage inflight or in transit. Any claims of this nature should be referred directly to your insurer.

neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable).

10 PASSPORT, VISA, IMMIGRATION AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS - It is your responsibility

to check and fulfil the passport, visa, health and immigration requirements applicable to your itinerary. We can only provide general information about this. You must check requirements for your own specific circumstances with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates and your Doctor as applicable. Requirements do change and you must check the up to date position in good time before departure. You must notify us regarding next of kin details and any other important information we request before you travel. A full 10 year British passport is required for all of our holidays, and your passport must be valid for a full 6 months following your date of return to the UK. If you do not hold a valid 10 year British passport, please note it can take up to twelve weeks to obtain a new one. If you or any member of your party is not a British citizen or holds a non British passport, you must check passport and visa requirements with the Embassy or Consulate of the country(ies) to or through which you are intending to travel. You must ensure you have the correct travel documents in your possession before departure, failing which you will be liable for any costs, which you or we may incur as a result. Please note that, very occasionally, a last minute change may entail entering an additional country. Please note children must now have their own passport. For all passport enquiries contact the UK Passport Agency on 08705 210 410 or www.homeoffice. gov.uk/agenciespublic-bodies/ips

Important Information SUPPLIERS’ CONDITIONS - Many of the services

which make up your holiday are provided by independent suppliers. Some of these terms and conditions may limit or exclude the supplier’s liability to you, usually in accordance with applicable International Conventions. Copies of the relevant parts of these terms and conditions and particularly the Terms and Conditions of Carriage at Sea of the carrier providing your Cruise are available on request from ourselves.

FITNESS TO TRAVEL - We strive to give all our

customers full care and attention, but we do need to know at the time of booking if there are any special needs or requirements. It is particularly important that we are advised of any disabilities and also if you intend to bring any specialist equipment such as a wheelchair with you. Please make sure that you send in full details, quoting your Booking Reference, as soon as you receive your booking confirmation. These will be acknowledged on your Confirmation of Reservation. If you have suffered from a serious medical condition recently, then you should consult with your Doctor about your fitness to travel. Please note wheelchairs and scooters cannot be used on board or at tender ports.
