“Christmas in my Hometown” Concert, Maastricht 2023
André Rieu, the ‘Waltz King of Europe’, will again perform an indoor “Christmas in my Hometown” Concert at the Maastricht Exhibition and Conference Centre (MECC) in his hometown of Maastricht in the Netherlands this December.
Join us for a memorable four-day break that in addition to the unforgettable night with André includes a visit to the Maastricht Christmas market on the famous Vrijhof Square with its ice rink, Ferris wheel and many beautiful stalls providing festive cheer, a warm welcome and wintry fun. In addition, on Day Three, we’ve included a visit to the world-famous Aachen Christmas Market which is set around its cathedral and town hall.
Acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest living musical legends, Dutch-born André Rieu was classically trained, and is now an accomplished violinist, an excellent conductor and a truly great showman. With his orchestra, choir, soloists and special guests he brings a delightful and innovative approach to his concerts, recreating the atmosphere of 19th century Viennese Dance Halls. Rapt audiences sway with the music, hum along and even dance in the aisles – it all happens!

Amsterdam
Amsterdam a wonderful place to visit
The delightful city of Amsterdam, with its canals, cobblestones, café-bars and artistic heritage is world-renowned for its popular museums – the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rembrandt House. All house immediately recognisable works of art from some of the great Dutch Masters.
Another of Amsterdam’s most visited museums is the poignant Anne Frank House, the building in which the young girl and her diary were hidden during much of the Second World War. Relaxed and laid-back, Amsterdam has a thriving cafe-culture, and when you’ve finished enjoying the sights, take a seat in a cafe or bar to watch the world go by.
If our canal cruise tour (right) isn’t for you, a visit to the Dutch capital simply wouldn’t be complete without an afternoon spent strolling along the canal-lined streets, watching the narrowboats, and enjoying the iconic, narrow gabled houses that line the streets. As with much of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is largely flat, an aspect that encourages and enables exploration of the city’s sights on foot. Amsterdam also has a great network of trams and buses which, with the use of a public transport chip card (paid for in advance online or locally), will speed up your exploration of the sights, and give you discounted entry to a number of attractions.
Exclusive optional Amsterdam cheese and wine cruise
£49 per person
Enjoy the iconic sights of Amsterdam from a comfortable vantage point aboard our special private cheese and wine cruise. Your voyage past Amsterdam’s gabled buildings, the Westerkerk and Anne Frank House will include two delicious glasses of wine specially selected to go with a Henri Willig cheeseboard. This private cruise is a great way to avoid the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam’s streets.
A friendly, knowledgeable local guide will accompany you throughout the voyage and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Please note: The Amsterdam cheese and wine cruise includes free Wi-Fi, a free app with a GPS audio tour and full toilet facilities. Your tour manager will confirm your exact cruise time(s) on arrival at your hotel.
