Joining forces Metrohm and B&W Tek to take Raman spectroscopy to the next level
T
he acquisition of B&W Tek LLC by Swiss Metrohm AG in July 2018 creates one of the largest solution providers for applied Raman spectroscopy. Two technology leaders in the field of Raman spectroscopy join forces, and customers all over the world will benefit: that is the key message that Metrohm and B&W Tek are delivering to the market. In addition to the wellestablished distribution network of B&W Tek, selected Metrohm subsidiaries have started supplying the full range of the B&W Tek product line. The B&W Tek portfolio complements the existing Metrohm Raman Portfolio with innovative technology (e.g. patented seethrough technology for measurements through opaque containers, dedicated solutions for background fluorescence
reduction) and extends it to include portable Raman analysers for laboratory and field use, as well as solutions for LaserInduced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS). Customers can now choose from a portfolio of mobile Raman systems that is second to none, ranging from dedicated solutions for the identification of explosives and illegal substances, to instruments for compliant QC of pharmaceuticals. The portable and handheld Raman systems provide versatile, easy-to-use solutions that can be configured to the needs of individual customers for use in virtually any industry. In addition to cutting-edge technology, Metrohm and B&W Tek customers can rely on application support and service provided through trained and certified experts from more than 80 Metrohm companies and exclusive distributors in 120 countries worldwide.
Winning with Metrohm M
etrohm ran a competition during analytica Lab Africa, which was held at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand, Johannesburg from 9-11 July. Show attendees had to answer four questions about the various Metrohm instruments on display on all three days of the show. In this way, customers learnt something about the Metrohm products while giving themselves a chance to win a nice Swiss-made prize. A win-win situation all round. Two lucky winners were then drawn on the final day of the show. Busisiwe Mkiza from ARC and Tebatso Mashilane from Mintek were the lucky winners of Swiss-made Swatch watches.

Wirsam at analytica Lab Africa 2019

irsam Scientific attended analytica Lab Africa 2019 where they exhibited their innovative products to new and existing customers. Wirsam had over 20 products on display, which allowed visitors to their stand to have hands-on experiences with some of their world-class equipment. They were greatly supported by their international supplier partners at the exhibition, which allowed for customers to interact directly with the manufacturers of the equipment, with real-time information.
Visitors to Wirsam’s stand qualified for their show specials, which included excellent discounts on their AND HR 250 balances, and they were informed of their upcoming workshops being held at the Wirsam Academy.
