MDS Architecture was founded in 1954 and throughout its history the practice’s strong commercial, design, technical and administrative skills have ensured successful projects for its many clients. This record is evidenced by the number of repeat clients for whom MDS Architecture has worked, as well as the confidence shown by the major financial institutions that have invested in the projects under MDS Architecture’s direction.

The practice comprises of eight Partners and, in addition, MDS Architecture employs Professional Architects as well as a team of highly experienced technical and draughting staff, including creative and multi-talented Interior Designers. The office is fully computerised with a networked CAD system, colour rendering, 3-D visualisation and presentation terminals with multi-colour plotting facilities. MDS Architecture also has an administrative computer network system, as well as a full in-house drawing reproduction facility with a computerised drawing issue system.

The practice’s newly built offices in Sandton were designed to complement its needs and incorporate adequate conference and entertainment facilities, product and finishes libraries, and workshops.

Widely acknowledged to work in an efficient manner, MDS Architecture is also very familiar with “fast track” projects. They have the experience and skills that enable them to programme their

work to suit the best interests of the projects. MDS Architecture also works closely with all the professional disciplines, including Interior Designers, both locally and abroad.

The practice has been responsible for many award winning shopping centres such as Ballito Junction, Mall of Africa in Midrand, Morningside Shopping Centre in Sandton, Mall of the North in Polokwane, Paarl Mall, Nicolway, Sandton City, Rosebank Mall and Madinat Jumeirah Resort - Dubai.

In addition, MDS Architecture has successfully completed notable international projects such as Jabi Lake Mall in Nigeria, Ikeja City Mall in Nigeria, The Junction Shopping Centre in Ghana, Mlimani Shopping Office and Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam and the Grand Mauritian Resort and Spa in Mauritius, amongst others.
