YOM HA’SHOAH HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL PROGRAM

Our annual Holocaust Memorial Program honors local survivors and commemorates the Holocaust. The program features Dr. Bernd Wollschlaeger, the son of a highly decorated Nazi officer, who grew up in Germany and struggled with his father’s role in the Holocaust. Ultimately he converted to Judaism, immigrated to Israel and served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a medical officer. Children learn to swim at the JCC in a safe environment. JCC experienced water safety instructors understand the fears and feelings that come with learning to swim. Gold, Silver and Metairie members are invited to bring a guest. Guests must be accompanied by a JCC member at all times. The same guest is limited to three JCC visits per year. Guests must sign in and show photo ID. $8 / person (adult or child) Children under 4 years old are free

LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION

Interested in a great summer job? Be a lifeguard! This course teachers the skills and knowledge needed by lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a two year certification in life guarding that includes first Aid and professional level CPR/AED. Must be at least 15 yrs. old and pass swimming requirements.
