De Son Vivant Mon 6 Dec 13:00 Tue 7 Dec 18:30 How to live knowing that there are only a few months left? This is the painful question asked by director Emmanuelle Bercot in this powerful drama led by a formidable Benoît Magimel and Catherine Deneuve.

A son in denial of a serious illness. A mother facing the unbearable. And between them a doctor and a nurse fighting to do their job and bring them to acceptance. They have one year and four seasons to come together and understand what it means to die while living. There is no miracle cure here – no Hollywood deus ex machina moment to save the day. Bercot’s film faces its subject head on without attempting to provide misplaced hope of a sunnier conclusion. Catherine Deneuve received a standing ovation at Cannes for her stunning performance. Have you thought about volunteering at the cinema?

We have a thriving group of volunteers who perform ushering duties for each performance. Our ushers give half an hour of their time before the film to assist ticketholders entering the auditorium. In exchange they get to watch the film for free! Volunteers choose which films they would like to usher, and they can do as many or as few as they like. Ushering is sociable and enjoyable and also a vital part of the cinema’s operation. Contact Operations Manager Richard Warburton by email: richard@chichestercinema.org
