Career Pathways Receives Excellence Award The Governor’s STEM Academy at Heritage High School and Newport News Shipbuilding’s Career Pathways program recently received third place from the National Career Pathways Network’s (NCPN) Career Pathways Partnership Excellence Award in Orlando, Florida on Oct. 13 NCPN emphasizes the importance of career guidance and advising, and providing work-based learning opportunities for students. “The partnership between NNS Career Pathways and Heritage High School provides students with opportunities and wonderful, unique experiences,” said Shauntel Foster,

North Dakota (SSN 784) Commissioned USS North Dakota (SSN 784) officially became the Navy’s newest addition to the submarine force following a commissioning ceremony on Oct. 25 at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conneticut. Adm. Jonathan Greenert, the 30th Chief of Naval Operations, was the ceremony’s keynote speaker. He welcomed North Dakota to the fleet and reminded the crew of the important role they will play in protecting the nation’s security while executing his standing operating orders of: Warfighting First, Operate Forward and Be Ready.
