Swim Lessons Schedule

Schedule/Course Description

SWIM LESSON COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Introduction to Water Skills Level I

There are no prerequisites for this course. The objective of Level I is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. At this level, students start developing good attitudes and safe practices around the water. Students will also be introduced to floating.

Swim Lessons Schedule

Fundamental Aquatic Skills Level II

Successful completion of Level I is required to enter this level. The objective of this level is to give students success with fundamental skills such as learning to float without support, and to recover to a vertical position. Students will also explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.

Stroke Development Level III

Students entering Level III must have Level II certification or be able to demonstrate the skills required to complete Level II. The objective of Level III is to build on the skills learned in the previous level. Students will learn to coordinate the front crawl and back crawl. Elements of the butterfly and the fundamentals of treading water are introduced here as well.

Stroke Improvement Level IV

Students entering Level IV must have Level III certification or be able to demonstrate the skills required to complete Level III. Students will learn to improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl and back crawl) for greater distances. They will continue to build on the butterfly and introduce the elementary backstroke, breaststroke, and elements of the sidestroke. The basics of turning at a wall are also introduced.

Stroke Refinement Level V

Students entering Level V must have Level IV certification or be able to demonstrate the skills required to complete Level IV. The objective of Level V is coordination and refinement of all the strokes learned thus far: front and back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke. Endurance is also increased. Flip turns on the front and back are also introduced.

Stroke Refinement Level VI

Level VI is geared toward preparing students for competitive and fitness swimming. Students will work on refining all strokes including butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, along with competitive starts and turns and building endurance.

Tips for healthy living from Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital

Spring fever? We can’t cure it but we can help when the fever makes you overdo it. You played all 18 holes your first time out this spring. A little physical therapy can fix that sore shoulder and get you back in the game. Ask your doctor to refer you to the physical therapy professionals at the hospital and at Samaritan Coastal Rehabilitation. Your daughter rolled her ankle playing beach volleyball. Maybe it’s more than a sprain. Our diagnostic imaging professionals can take a look with x-ray, CT or MRI. Your wife is missing out on the fun due to the constant pain in her bad knee. She can get a total knee replacement right here in Lincoln City. Contact Samaritan Orthopedics at (541) 557-6477 to learn more. 3043 NE 28th St. Lincoln City, OR 97367 (541) 994-3661 samhealth.org/lincolncity
