FOREWORD Traditionally, a 20th anniversary is celebrated with gifts of china or platinum, but New River Fine Art will celebrate their twentieth anniversary with exquisite works of art. Throughout its twenty-year history, the gallery has presented numerous exhibitions from Old Masters, Impressionists, 20th Century, Post War and Pop Masters to Emerging Artists. It all started with Salvador Dali. A debonair French Baron took a chance on a fledgling art dealer and curated a sold out inaugural show. That first opportunity turned into a relationship culminating in New River Fine Art’s management of his estate containing over 800 unique works and graphics by Salvador Dali. Through the years, we have introduced clients to luminaries of the art world and offered them exceptional collecting opportunities. The Pissarro family curated the first Camille Pissarro and His Descendants exhibition outside a museum at New River Fine Art. Miami’s own Purvis Young was exhibited before the Museum of Modern Art, NY added his work to their permanent collection. Most recently, New River Fine Art hosted the monumental exhibition Matta: On the Edge of a Dream featuring works to be loaned to the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. To celebrate this landmark anniversary, XX looks back at the most important artists from the 20th Century, Post War and Pop movements. From Matisse to Picasso, Warhol to Lichtenstein, these artists continue to shatter sales records at auction as museums and private collectors around the world compete for their works. During New River Fine Art’s twenty years, countless paintings, sculpture, art glass and graphics have found new homes and may one day grace the walls of museums, be passed down to future generations or perhaps find a new caretaker. Historically significant works of art will always be part of our gallery’s present, but it’s the future and its limitless opportunities that motivate everyone at New River Fine Art. The art world is constantly evolving as artists break new ground, movements develop and technology advances. We will continue to learn, grow and build upon our success to ensure that we continue to offer the highest quality and value to our collectors. There are exciting developments on the horizon that will keep the gallery at the forefront of the industry. On a personal note, I have been blessed to work with an extraordinary team of professionals who put their hearts as well as their heads into their careers. They have become a second family and I am humbled, honored and so very grateful for their dedication. Every day, we are privileged to meet fascinating people from all walks of life who enter the gallery and leave with newfound knowledge, beauty, culture and perhaps a piece of history - for it is you, our collectors, that have made this extraordinary journey possible. Thank you for twenty unforgettable years. Lisa Burgess President 2
