Applying for an I-20 for The New School ESL Program Note: The New School ESL program is for students starting at the intermediate level. Please pay careful attention to application deadlines below! 1. You need the English as a Second Language Application form. (addresses below) • Pick application up or request from English Language Studies Or • Pick application up or request from the New School Admissions Office 2. Your English level must be approved for acceptance to our program. If you are applying from abroad or outside the local area: Return completed ESL Application (with required writing sample for level approval) to New School Admission Office.
If you are in the New York City area: Contact the English Language Studies Office to schedule a placement test. You need to take the placement test to get level approval.
3. I-20 Application. If you are accepted, you will receive an official acceptance letter from New School Admission and information on how to apply for an I-20 or transfer your I20. (Note: You can only register for classes after you’ve received this acceptance letter).
