THE iNViSiBLE LABOR ORG. MARASSi JOANNE STUDiO LAB: CAPSTONE MAY 2022
PROJECT STATEMENT
Much of what goes behind the unseen labour remains to be unnoticed and unrecognized and thus, unregulated. The Invisible Labor Organization seeks to create momentum to make basic rights and equity for these works the new norm of society. In this space, everyone will be seen, every story will be shared, and every worker will be noticed.
DESiGN CONCEPT Q: Permanence A: Transformative A scaffolding system, representative of temporary structures, is utilized for multifunctional purposes to cater three different programs of the space: exhibitions open to the public, workshops for laborers, and workspaces for the organization’s employees. The reconfigurable nature of scaffolds enable story-telling journeys between occupants and environments, invisible workers and society, artists and audience, and government and citizens.
