Hello, Everyone! ALSA LC UI Newsletter 2022 brings the theme “Personal Data Protection Law and E-Commerce”. The increase in e-commerce users because of the pandemic regulations have caused a rise of consumers’ data breaches. This has become a very urgent matter because personal data privacy is essential to every human being and is considered a basic human right. As of October 20th 2022, Indonesia has finally ratified its long-awaited Personal Data Protection ("PDP") Bill as a law to provide legal assurance without exception. Therefore, we aim to increase readers’ understanding about the importance of the PDP Law in Indonesia and its role to provide a protection shield for consumers to use e-commerce platforms safely, as well as educating readers on how to protect their personal data wisely, especially while using e-commerce.
