Countdown to opening begins

Visitors to the refurbished Leisure Centre in Sleaford can start to get excited, with just under a month to go until it’s new-look is revealed. On the 15 October 2013, after a year of being closed, the Sleaford Leisure Centre will be opening its doors once again to the public. Meeting the needs of everyone

from the age of 0 to 90+, the ÂŁ2.85m project is something that local people can be proud of. NKDC and Leisure in the Community have worked closely with builders, RG Carter Ltd to provide the community with a facility that everyone can enjoy. Visitors will be welcomed back

to the Leisure Centre with a range of special sessions and free swimming. Keep your eye out OCTOBER in local press, social media and this newsletter for further details. Keep this date in your diary.

In the run-up to the refurbishment, North Kesteven District Council consulted with the public, swimming clubs and the NK Youth Council to find out exactly what everyone required from their local leisure centre. Through this consultation period it was found that all elements were needed, and no one aspect was more important than the other. Tile Competition finds a worthy winner in Nell Nell Glenn, aged 9 from Billinghay marked another piece of Sleaford Leisure Centre’s histroy last week after she won a competition to place the last tile in the swimming pool. The competition which was run in partnership with the Sleaford Target asked for those aged under 12 to write in and tell us what they are most looking forward to when the Leisure Centre reopens in October.

Nell was the lucky winner selected by North Kesteven District Council’s Rob Young, on his last day with the District Council. Nell said: “I am really excited for when the pool opens and I can go swimming with my family”. Nell who is pictured (right) with her twin brother Richard Glenn was proud to have laid the last two tiles of 10,000 that are in the pool.
