t’s the most wonderful time of the year! I cannot wait to gather with my family to celebrate the magic of Christmas, share an abundance of love and joy, decorate the tree, listen to holiday music, and make some of our favorite foods and desserts! The holiday season is all about making memories and family traditions is something everyone will cherish in the years ahead. It’s true what they sayChristmas can feel like a lot of work, particularly for mothers. But when I reflect on past holidays, it warms my heart knowing I’ve created family traditions and lasting memories. Traditions matter. Traditions touch us and add depth and
meaning to our time together. Maybe you already have fun holiday traditions that you share with your family every year. Or maybe it’s time to establish something new. Our family has all kinds of holiday traditions, some include visiting a local tree farm to pick out our Christmas tree, the seven fishes on Christmas eve, wearing matching pajamas, making chocolate covered pretzel trays, and having Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation on repeat. And some of our favorite holiday rituals are just plain silly, which is what makes them all the more memorable and fun! his coming year will mark the 50th Anniversary of The Moorestown Flower Shoppe! It’s the perfect time to thank all those who contributed to this milestone and share its rich history. Could the original founders, Ellen VasDias and her daughter Bobbi Townsend, have known the legacy and tradition they began? VasDias and her
daughter, Townsend, who was the winner of a $50,000 lottery in 1972, used her winnings and started The Moorestown Flower Shoppe. The flower shop was originally located at 25 E. Main Street, in half of The Edgar Realty Building, now known as Coldwell Banker. In 1977, Tom and Diane Spena eagerly purchased the shop from VasDias. The Spena's ran The Moorestown Flower Shoppe out of
that location for several more years. Then in 1982, the Spena's purchased and refurbished The Masonic Lodge located at 65 E. Main St. The Spena's continued to operate from this space passionately for another 18 years. Then in 2001, the business was sold to Bruce and Nancy Griffiths. Five years later, in 2006, the business was bought by Mary Zoltowski, who has been the
proud owner for the past 15 years! Mary continued to run the shop for approximately eight years at this location until purchasing a new home for the flower shop directly across the street and moved to 66 E. Main Street. Wanting to keep the integrity of the former space, friends and local town residents were recruited to help transform the new space. Various textures such as fresh paint, real tin ceilings and a brick wall backdrop gives the space that quaint old town feel.

In summary, founders VasDias and Townsend owned for 5 years, The Spenas for 25 years until retirement, The Griffiths for 5 years before relocating and Mary for 15 years for an incredible total of 50 years! This could not have been possible without a lot of hard work, many dedicated employees, past and present, holiday volunteers and the town's love and commitment to “shop local”. The Voorhees Ballet Theatre
he Voorhees Ballet Theatre is a non-profit organization offering an educational, professional experience for the serious-minded student interested in pursuing a professional career in the performing arts. Artistic Director Suzanne C. Steinbach started The Voorhees Ballet Theatre in 1986 hoping to give these eager, young artists performance opportunities. The Ensemble Members and Apprentices have performed all over the Delaware Valley at various banquets and community events, plus many nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area. Each year since the first Nutcracker in 1987, Tchaikovsky’s score of The Nutcracker can be heard from September - December throughout the studio walls of Lowe Dance Studio (the home studio of Voorhees Ballet Theatre).
