Whether you’re traveling by plane, train, or automobile; going to the mountains or the beach, embarking on a getaway weekend or staying in an exotic locale; or celebrating summer with a staycation in your air-conditioned home or sunny backyard, chances are games will be involved.

Playing board games and card games is a time-honored summer vacation tradition and Game Friendzy is here to make sure YOU get a seat at the gaming table!

Every Saturday in June Game Friendzy in Cherry Hill is hosting two-hour sessions, 10 am-12 pm, to learn the games of summer – mah jongg, pinochle, canasta, and hand and foot.

But first, celebrate International Tabletop Game Day and kick off Game Friendzy’s summer games with a special “new games” event on Saturday, June 1!

The game tables at Game Friendzy will be laden with an array of fantastic new and new-to-you board games to sample and try. The selections will appeal to a wide range of ages, in varying levels of difficulty, and include solo handheld games to entertain children in the car or plane.

Game Friendzy staff will be on hand to help sort through the selections to find entertaining additions to your summer vacation. All the games

can be borrowed from Game Friendzy for club members, or be purchased in retail stores or online.

The fee for the June 1 new games session is $10 for the first person in your group and $5 for additional attendees. Bring the kids to discover some new favorite games to play as a family or to give the adults some time to relax while the kids are occupied at the game table.

Next in the Saturday summer game series are introductory sessions to learn the basics of mah jongg on June 8, pinochle on June 15, canasta on June 22, and hand and foot on June 29. The fee for these classic and perennially popular game sessions is $10/person/session.

Registration is not required, all the sessions are drop-in events.

Rock Voices, the non-audition community choir that only sings rock music, is starting in Cherry Hill, NJ this summer. The choir will pay tribute to Queen, including: Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Somebody To Love, Killer Queen, We Will Rock You, Don’t

The 12-week summer session starts on Thursday, May 23, 7pm at 401 Kings Highway North Cherry Hill, NJ. The group will be directed by Cody Messersmith, a doctoral fellow in the Music Education PhD program at Temple University. (See his bio on the Rock Voices website.)

Rock Voices is a community choir open to anyone (18+).

Recordings are provided for members to learn their parts by ear so you don’t need to read music. For members who want to stand out, there are solo opportunities available (Bohemian Rhapsody, anyone?). For everyone else, you are free to play it safe and blend in. There’s a place for everyone.

The choir will perform a concert backed by a live rock band the weekend of August 11. (Exact date & venue TBA.) Prospective members may try it out for up to three weeks risk free

before committing. The cost to participate for a single season is $275, payable in installments. Financial assistance is available to those who demonstrate a need. Every effort is made to make the choir accessible to all who need or want it in their lives.
