Cherry Hill Game & Bridge Center Reopening! G ame Friendzy & Bridge Center is reopening Monday, October 12. The game club, located in the Barclay Farms Shopping Center on Route 70, will offer a fun line-up of games and lessons for bridge, mah jongg, canasta, and pinochle. “We can’t wait to welcome everyone back,” says Bernadette Hennessy May, owner of the game center. “Everyone needs
an enjoyable respite from daily life responsibilities, especially with all the demands presented by 2020, and we’re here to provide that.” The Game Friendzy building, like many businesses, closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Game Friendzy took its games & lessons online. Those popular online offerings will continue, even after the physical building reopens Octo-

ber 12. To welcome back visitors and adhere to government guidelines, the center has incorporated a variety of changes and safety measures. These include separate entrance and exit doors, amply spaced playing tables, and clear dividers to provide a protected space for each player while also allowing players to see and interact with each other. Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the center and all equipment, tables, and chairs will be sanitized after every use. All guests and staff must wear masks. “We are taking the reopening slowly to allow everyone to
adjust and once again feel comfortable with in-person playing,” Hennessy May says. “Initially we are limiting the number of people in the club at one time by hosting only one type of game each day -- bridge, mah jonng, or canasta.” Game dates, times, and fees can be found at www.gamefriendzy.com or by calling Game Friendzy at 856-795-PLAY (9529). American Cancer Society and Univision Team Up to Make Strides in the Fight Against Breast Cancer
T
he American Cancer Society and Univision, the nation’s leading Spanishlanguage network, are teaming up once again for their annual Amate a Ti Misa/Love Yourself breast cancer awareness campaign at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper in Camden, New Jersey and Penn Medicine in Philadelphia. Women age 40 and older and who do not have any insurance can get a free mammogram, cervical cancer screening, or colorectal screening. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of death among Hispanic/Latina women. Women in the fastestgrowing minority group in the United States face issues such as language and cultural barriers, lifestyle choices, and lack of insurance that could affect

their health and medical care. The Amate a Ti Misma/Love Yourself campaign educates the community on the importance of getting screened. Launched in 2006 in New York City, this annual campaign expanded to the Philadelphia area in 2014 and again to Washington DC in 2015. The cancer screening campaign happens during the months of February, May, October around Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In the Greater Philadelphia area this screening event typically takes place leading up to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. This year, due to COVID-19, the American Cancer Society will host its Making Strides Virtually YOUnited cel-
ebration on Thursday, October 15th at 7 PM. This event will feature emcees Gina Gannon from 6abc and Ilia Garcia from Univision, musical performances from The Voice contestant Jimi Milligan and Patty Balbo, and an inspiring survivor panel.
