in the humanities, art, music, Spanish, physical education, and technology throughout the grade levels. Our faculty strives to bring out each student's individuality, working to develop creative thinkers, problem solvers, peacemakers, and humanitarians who will contribute compassionate, responsive, and responsible leadership throughout their lives. Students graduate from Westfield well-prepared for high school and continue a 100% acceptance rate at their first-choice high school.

We believe that a diverse community leads to a confident, empowered child. Finding strength

in our differences, we use kindness and compassion to help students forge lasting friendships. A learning environment marked by respectful interactions makes us stronger, smarter, and more resilient. We celebrate each child’s unique spirit as we honor the principles that bind us together. This is a place where learning becomes a joyful collaborative pursuit.

Minutes from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, our historic, beautifully wooded 8.5-acre campus is convenient to students coming from Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties in New Jersey, and from the greater

Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania.

An inspiring academic setting, a diverse, empowering community, and a Quaker moral compass—these are the essential elements of the Westfield Friends experience. Together, they produce life-changing results. We are proud that our graduates pursue meaningful careers that help to create the world we seek. Visit westfieldfriends.org or call Admissions (856) 829-0895 x113 to schedule a private tour and learn more about enhancing your child’s journey. The world we seek for children begins here.

Antiques and Clocks Clock Repair and Service

Antiques and Clocks Repair and Service has been family owned and operated for 34 years. Founded by Master Clockmaker, David Fisher and his wife Lisa, they opened their business in the late 1980’s as a small antique and clock store located in Cinnaminson. As time went on and their family grew, they decided to work from their home in Moorestown, which

enabled them to fix clocks and spend time with their family.

Clock repair requires skill with an intricate knowledge of the machinery that powers the clock. Each clock is unique, especially older antique clocks that were made in the earlier centuries. There are only a few master repairers left in Southern New Jersey and in the digital age few people have taken up the an-

cient art. Master Clockmaker, David Fisher, is one of the few who takes care of hundreds of historical and every day clocks. Proper service to your clock heads off more expensive repairs.

For David, clock repair work is a rewarding challenge. Seeing families reunite with happy memories from childhood, special events and even inherited timepieces from a

Apricot Lane women’s apparel boutique

For 30 years I worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Cooper University Health Care. I spent 15 years in the Level One Trauma Center and 12 years in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. My last 3 years were spent with Covid patients and became physically and emotionally drained. It was then that my husband Gary determined that we needed a better quality of life. He started looking into franchise opportu-

nities and minutes into it, Apricot Lane Boutique appeared. It was listed as the #1 women’s apparel boutique.

After doing some research and making some phone calls our plan started to take shape and soon everything started to fall into place. Then we found the perfect location in our quaint hometown of Moorestown, NJ. Apricot Lane became our happy new life! We

have been warmly received and welcomed and are very thankful for our customers/friends. And we would not be where we are today without the support we received from family and friends. We are extremely grateful. It’s nice to enjoy life again and now the only thing I resuscitate is people’s fashions!

Stay tuned for our 1st ALB birthday celebration coming in October!

Concerned about break-ins in our communities?

What exactly is Clear Safety Defense?

Clear Safety Defense is a company specializing in invisible safety laminates that we install on your windows and glass doors to avert intruders, making the glass virtually unbreakable.

Is the safety laminate bulletproof?

While not necessarily bulletproof, the safety laminate can withstand winds of 200 mph and has a break strength of 210 pounds per inch. That’s pretty powerful if you ask us!

Does it go on the inside or outside of my windows?

We generally install safety laminates on the inside of your windows and glass doors. For maximum protection, the safety laminate can also be installed on the outside of the windows, making it twice as strong.

Can I install safety film myself?

We wouldn’t make you do that. Our installers are trained and certified to install safety laminate film to your glass, so we recommend you let us do all of the hard work.

How much does it cost?

Pricing will depend on the particular areas you’d like to secure- windows, doors, slid-

ing glass doors, mirrors, skylights and more. Our most popular area for homeowners to secure are sliding glass doors, which start at $450. What’s the price for safety for your family?

How long does it take to install?

The length of installation depends on the size of the job. Installation takes anywhere from a few hours to a few days. We will install based on your schedule, and will not interrupt your home or office while at your location. Does safety film come with a warranty?

Yes, all of our products come with warranties. For residential installations, safety laminates come with a lifetime warranty for the current owner of the home. For commercial installations, safety laminates come with a 15 year warranty, protecting against crazing, cracking, demetallizing or adhesive failure.

What other services do you offer?

Clear Safety Defense also specializes in Ring camera systems and digital locks. Call us today for your FREE estimate! 856-888-4820

Gerald Margolis – Autobiography

I am a board certified psychiatrist and psychoanalyst with several decades of experience treating patients with psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I help patients overcome their suffering from anxiety, depression, difficulty making life decisions, excessive self-criticism, guilt, shame, self-doubting, feelings of unworthiness, as well as relationship problems. I received my medical degree from the University of Chicago. While there, I found that my greatest interest lay in helping people overcome their mental suffering.

After graduating from medical school, I did my residency in Psychiatry at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University.

During my residency, I realized that to be most helpful to my patients, it would be beneficial to complete psychoanalytic training, which led me to complete my psychoanalytic training at the Institute of The Philadelphia Association for Psychoanalysis, since renamed The Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia.

Presently, I teach and supervise residents in Psychiatry at

Scouting is Fun for All

the University of Pennsylvania where I am a clinical professor. In addition, I teach and supervise trainees in psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia.

The main emphasis of my professional interest is in my private practice in psychodynamic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, helping people overcome their mental suffering. Because of the Covid pandemic, I moved my practice from my longtime office in Cherry Hill to my home office in Moorestown where I see patients virtually.

All Kids Welcome in the BSA

Looking for a new activity this back-to-school season? Try Scouting!

Scouting is adventure, family, fun, friends, skills, character, leadership, and so much more.

In Scouting, boys and girls start with their best right-now selves and grow into their very best future selves. Fun, handson learning and achievement puts kids in the middle of the action and prepares them for today — and for life.

“Scouting allows young men and women to obtain knowledge not taught in school, making them well-rounded members of society. They also learn how to work for and with others, instilling principles of teamwork and selfless service. Scouting is an excellent way to shape the next generation of leaders,” notes Isabela T., Eagle Scout with Scouts BSA Troop 7234, Williamstown.

For kids, Scouting is adventure like camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, archery, boating, Pinewood Derby races, outdoor cooking, and more!

“At camp I got to learn about nature, shoot bow and arrows, and go fishing. On Friday, we got to roll on the ground in the mud. It was so fun,” explains Saylor L., Cub Scout Pack 1025, Millville.

For parents and guardians,

Scouting is:

>> Structured fun that builds skills and critical thinking;

>> Self-confidence and self-esteem;

>> A positive outlet for energy;

>> A way to meet friends;

>> Support for doing better in school;

>> Character and team building;

>> Adults to look up to;

>> Experiences that last a lifetime!

For everyone, Scouting is FUN!

“My favorite part about Scouting is getting out of the house and doing something, instead of lounging around doing nothing; and meeting friends I never would have met,” says Austin S. of Scouts BSA Troop 3096 in Barrington.

The Boy Scouts of America are proud to welcome all youth ages 5-10 in Cub Scouts, ages 11-17 in Scouts BSA, and ages 14-20 in Venturing, Sea Scouting, and Exploring. Learn more about each BSA program and search for units near you at https://BeAScout. org. Anytime is a perfect time to join Scouting!

June E. Greenspan, MD – Autobiography

I am an adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. I have treated patients for many years in both Jenkintown, Pennsylvania and Moorestown. Since Covid, however, I am only treating patients in Moorestown.

Originally, I began my medical practice in pediatrics in Cinnaminson where I became fascinated by the curiosity and the ways in which children and adolescents think. This

led me to return for residency training in adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. I also completed additional training to become an adult, child and adolescent psychoanalyst.

Additionally, for many years, I have been involved in the training of residents in psychiatry at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, where I am a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry.

As a general rule, I have found most patients respond to careful psychodynamic psychotherapy, and therefore, don’t require psychiatric medications. I do both individual, couples and family psychotherapy, depending on what is needed and indicated.

Currently, I am working virtually. I welcome your inquiry for evaluation and treatment. My office phone number is 856-234-4800.

Fives Contracting provides top-notch service

Meet Austin and Emily

Lemma, the founders of Fives Contracting, a roofing and siding company that stands behind the values of integrity and creative passion driven for excellence and customer satisfaction.

The story behind the name “Fives Contracting” came from the first five individuals who started the business venture

together, driven by the goal to provide top-notch service that earns them five stars every time.

Austin and Emily’s journey into entrepreneurship was sparked by a mix of inspiration and necessity. Both grew up in families deeply rooted in the construction industry, learning the ropes and imbibing values of hard work and quality craftsmanship. However, it was a per-

sonal setback that set them on the path to creating Fives Contracting.

Experience the joy of dance at Lowe Dance Studio

Over 65 years ago was the beginning of a dream come true for one of South Jersey’s most successful dance directors, Ruth M. Lowe. Miss Ruth stepped into a dance studio to take her first lesson when she

was nine years old. She knew at that very moment that she loved what she was doing and would be a dance teacher when she grew up. She absorbed everything she could from her dance teacher and mentor,

Mrs. Dorothea Riegert from The Crystal School of Dance. In 1958, she opened her school in her parents’ basement with five eager students.

Over the next couple of years, the school’s location moved from basement to basement until eventually, Miss Ruth rented a room in a friend’s home. The enrollment continued to increase and required an even larger facility. Thus, the location at 1207 Haddonfield Berlin Road was purchased in 1966.

During this time, many students passed through the doors of Lowe Dance Studio. A competitive team was formed in the late 1970s, and dancers

were learning and performing all over the East Coast. Competitors were bringing home performance awards, scholarships, and choreography awards, just to name a few.

The Voorhees Ballet Theatre was created in 1986 by Suzanne Lowe (Steinbach), and the Voorhees Danse Ensemble gave serious-minded students the opportunity to study ballet at a more demanding level. The Ensemble has sent students to prestigious institutions, including Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet, ABT, SAB, Princeton Ballet, Miami City Ballet, NC School of the Arts, The Harid Conservatory, CPYB, Pittsburgh Ballet, First State Ballet, Nash-

ville Ballet, and Philadelphia Ballet.

It’s unimaginable how many families have gone through the doors of Lowe Dance Studio in the past 65 years.

Multiple generations have experienced the joy of dance through the guidance and nurturing of Miss Ruth. In 2014, Ruth’s daughter, Suzanne Steinbach, took on the role of studio director and continues to further the advancement of Ruth’s legacy.

Many success stories can be told by the students who have attended our school. Become part of our family…visit lowedancestudio.com or find us on social media!

The New Jersey School of Music

Help! How do I select a major for college applications?

The college admissions process is overwhelming for most students and parents. In particular, many students struggle to decide which major and career to pursue. Although you can apply to college as a student who has not selected a major, which is called an undecided major, being undecided may decrease the strength of your overall application for admission and scholarships. Therefore, spending time in high school exploring as many career options as possible is essential.

How can the student start the journey?

First, write down what you are passionate about and enjoy doing. Then, research to explore careers related to your interests. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the Occupational Outlook Handbook (www.https://www.

bls.gov/ooh/), which lists all the jobs in the country, their respective descriptions, educational requirements, salary ranges, and projected future need. Take time to find out what resonates with you and your interests.

How do I turn this into a process that will enhance my college applications?

Utilize your community as a resource to discover your career interests. With parental permission and supervision, contact local businesses to interview those already working in the careers that interest you. Additionally, you can volunteer to work at companies such as local hospitals, law offices, and community outreach programs (i.e., food banks). Also, use your high school extra-curricular activities to explore options such as robotics, drama, environmental science club, and

orchestra. If your high school does not offer an extra-curricular activity related to your career interests, find out what it takes to start one. Taking this type of initiative will demonstrate leadership skills which will make your college applications more competitive. You can use these experiences to create an excellent essay or add it to your list of high school activities.

Life Beyond Graduation for Adults with Special Needs

Accessing Community Support Services

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guarantees that all children, even those with developmental disabilities, receive a ‘free and appropriate’ primary education.

But what happens after graduation?! Unfortunately, families are at a loss with what might be available beyond graduation. With some planning and preparation, there’s much available

for adults with special needs!

SPWA SERVICES offers our Support Coordination expertise to adults with special needs. We act as guides to eligible adults and their families on available

SJHSS is all of that and more!

When looking for a Hebrew school for your child, you want the obvious: an excellent education, seasoned educators, a family-like culture, and of course, you want your child to have fun. South Jersey Hebrew Sunday School (SJHSS) is all of that and more!

SJHSS has been serving the community for over 40 years. The school is unique in that it is not affiliated with a synagogue As a result, we can keep our costs affordable, class sizes smaller to obtain optimal learning levels, and even offer aides to assist in all aspects of the classroom activities. Furthermore, all students are welcome, including those that may re -

quire more support in academic or social areas.

Starting in Kindergarten, children can begin their Judaic education and continue until they complete seventh grade. However, students are welcome to begin any time during their schooling.

The curriculum, which is covered during the 10:00 AM - 12:15 PM sessions on Sunday mornings, spans learning the Hebrew alphabet and words, prayers, bible stories, history, current events, holidays, ethics, and the Holocaust. The students learn all of this in an age-appropriate manner, in addition to their prayers and torah portions, in order to become a Bar or Bat

Mitzvah.

Bar and Bat Mitzvah aged students are responsible for completing a project and performing some type of community service prior to their Bar or Bat Mitzvah date. South Jersey Hebrew Sunday School has a cantor that works with the Bar and Bat Mitzvah students on a regular basis. Additionally, we have a rabbi affiliated with our school.

With the assistance of a strong parent volunteer group, SJHSS holds a Passover seder each year, a yearly Purim carnival, a traditional Hanukkah celebration, Shabbat services, and other family-centered celebrations.

Your Student Can Be Ready for the New School Year!

Now, more than ever, it is time for students to not only learn, but to catch up. We all know, for many, schools years where they develop the skills for success have been less than ideal.

Students who are entering fourth grade, for example, may have missed many days due to the pandemic, or were trying to learn phonics while wearing masks. These formative years are when a student goes from learning to read to reading to learn.

Having intermittent in person instruction since the 20182019 school year has caused many students to fall behind. Since this year’s teacher must complete the curriculum for the current grade, there is less opportunity to catch up who is behind.

These gaps exist at every

grade level. That is where Huntington can help!

For 46 years, Huntington Learning Center has been the leader in supplemental education, fulfilling our mission statement; to give every student the best education possible!

Our four step approach begins with a comprehensive Academic Evaluation; creation of a Personalized Plan; Customized Learning; and Communication of Progress, to parents and teachers (with permission).

This approach yields amazing results, an average growth of over 2 academic years, in just three months!!

For students preparing for college, the pandemic has also created challenges. They also have missed out on some critical academic time; years when

programs offered through NJ Department of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). Support Coordination is a DDD-funded service that assists individuals in gaining access to needed programs, as well as potentially needed medical, social, educational, and other services. In collaboration with the individual and their family, we develop an Individualized Service Plan (ISP). Armed with the ISP, our Support Coordinators act as a connection to many wonderful available support services. Such might mean getting help to find and keep a job, attending college or a trade program, locat-

ing a suitable day program, accessing transportation, arranging respite, hiring a companion to participate in community activities, modifying a home to make it handicap accessible, and much more!

SPWA SERVICES covers Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, & Salem counties. If you’re still in school, expecting to graduate soon, or have already graduated, contact us to learn more! We’re available via phone at (856) 4203355 or visit us on the web www. spwaservices.org
