28th Annual Haddonfield Crafts And Fine Art Festival

After three year hiatus, the renowned fine art and craft show returns Sat., July 9 & Sun., July 10 After a three-year hiatus, Haddonfield Crafts and Fine Art Festival returns for its 28th year with more than 200 artists showcasing the best of fine art and craft from the region and beyond. This two-day outdoor festival, sponsored by Subaru, will be held Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, July 10 from noon - 5 p.m. along Kings Highway between Washington Avenue and Haddon Avenue and along Tanner Street to Euclid Avenue and on Kings Court. As always, a curated selection of artists and crafters will exhibit a wide range of work, including ceramics, glass, jewelry, wood, fiber, paper, drawings, paintings, photography, and wearable art. What is usually a busy main artery through the center of town is transformed into a festive corridor, alive with a panorama of artists’ tents, outdoor cafés, and more.

What do resorts, private villas and businesses in Bali, Indonesia have in common with New Jersey? , Mosquitoes! And so, we find new Haddonfield, NJ resident Mark eMiklosovich, who spent years rin Indonesia and Asia researching and fighting this dangerous ycreature. The past three years, Mikdlosovich brought his mosquito control business Eco Mosquito Mission to NY, NJ and PA along with travel work domestically nand internationally. Most recently, during a trip ,back to Indonesia, Miklosovich endured a 25-day quarantine on a dive boat off the coast of Sulawesi. When he arrived to the -dive boat, just off shore of an island jungle, the boat was over-

whelmed with mosquitos. Within a few days, and his technique, he brought the population down by almost 80% in 10-days’ time. Spraying simply doesn’t work, even for the few companies out there that actually use natural products (although most companies hide behind US law that allows a mixture of natural and synthetic insecticide or synthesized natural product like Permethrin, a man-made synthetic insecticide whose chemistry is derived from the flowers of the chrysanthemum plant.) Take the researched data that a square mile of fertile mosquito land can hold 100,000 female mosquitoes (the biters). So, let’s say that your typical insecticide or natural spraying kills 80% (which is hyper-optimistic),

leaving 20,000 to survive. Those surviving females in the next month will produce 20,000,000 new mosquitoes. The key is to disrupt or discontinue the breeding process, and this is the main strategy of Eco Mosquito Mission. Miklosovich’s company uses a true eco-approach which means 100% no chemicals, insecticides or spraying. Instead, he uses a labor-based program to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in numerous locations of a home and garden along with a proprietary blend of ecomission mulch, an eco-larvicide and eco-mission oil to disrupt the patterns of the mosquito. Quick and Fun Summer Games

Woot! It's almost Summer. I love the Summer. Pools are open, kids are out of school, time to plan for vacation. Between times of high activity we look for ways to just hang out or take a break. Electronics, of course, are a common go to (and I play plenty of electronic games). That being said, I am offering other quick fun and portable games as alternatives or supplements to electronics. Cards are light, portable, and quick! There are so many card games you can play alone or with friends. When playing outside, you can use the new magnetic cards to keep them from blowing away in the wind. You

can purchase a magnetic card deck as a set with a board. Need waterproof ones? You can get plastic cards that can get wet, so they will be perfect for the pool or beach. Other great portable games include, jacks, pixie stix, marbles, dominoes, scrabble, and of course, charades. All classic games that most of us know and enjoy are within arm's reach! Looking for a newer game? Here are two games that I found are particularly engaging for the electronic generation. Have you ever played Spot It? This is a speed game where you race against everyone to spot the matching shapes on the cards.

It is quick to learn and play and includes variations for children ages pre-school to the most observant of adults. There is also a waterproof version called Spot It Splash. Another great game is Last Letter. A speed game where you compete to empty your hand of cards before the other players empty theirs. d On May 15th, Moorestown tMayor Nicole Gillespie cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony and welcomed Harmony Juice to the town. Harmony Juice, an organic juice bar and vegan food concept, founded and owned by Monika Kobak, a Moorestown dresident, is a new addition to our Main Street businesses. -They bring organic cold-pressed ojuices, smoothies, acai bowls, salads, wraps and many other delicious foods to Moorestown. “Providing healthy, organic, owhole-food-based offerings to our community while supporting farmers who preserve soil is our mission.” The juice bar is located at 41 E. Main Street, Moorestown, New Jersey, at the former Starbucks location. Kobak added, “We are the first juice bar in South Jersey that provides organic, raw, cold pressed juice. What is cold pressed juice you

might ask and how it differs from the one bought in a grocery store? When you cold-press your juice, it retains more of the vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and antioxidants than regular juice. The shelf life of such juice is 5-7 days unless you pasteurize it. When juices go through pasteurization process all the beneficial bacteria, along with other nutrients, are removed from it. We cold press and do not pasteurize therefore our juices are packed with beneficial bacteria for gut health, enzymes, and minerals. We are currently working on implementing a process that will allow us to make cold pressed juice to order, right in front of you (no one to our knowledge does it on the East Coast). Mulford Dance Studio We offer adult dance classes. Class size is kept to approximately an 8-to-1 student-toteacher ratio for our younger classes allowing for individual attention. Building a strong rapport between instructors and students is very important so that the child feels safe, confident and is able to be comfortable to take corrections. Especially with the 6 and under, we take care to have regular meetings to go over classroom ideas and curriculum updates. Our studio is also an awardwinning studio. Although we only compete a couple times a year, we take pride in our dancers and teachers’ accomplishments. We use competition as

one of our guides to be sure we stay current. Competition encourages dancers to push themselves. A successful dance education requires qualified, motivated instructors who know how to develop each dancer based on age and ability. Our teachers are highly trained and excited to teach.
