Team notes: Among the teams in the district, Sylvan-Lucas was the only team to finished above .500, but still missed the playoffs after a three-way tie for second place left the Mustangs out on the point differential, despite leading the district in scoring

at 47 points per game. The Mustangs started 3-0 under veteran coach Ben Labertew, then lost in Week 4 to Chase before going 3-2 in district play. A 44-34 loss to Lakeside and 68-44 loss to Northern Valley kept the Mustangs from the playoffs, but they were the only team to defeat district champion Stockton. Those two teams appear to be district frontrunners this season.
