Aubree Dewey A sharpshooting freshman, Dewey burst onto the scene for the Plainville High School girls’ basketball team. Through 15 games, Dewey averaged 15.5 points per game, ranking her 28th in the state among teams that submit stats to maxpreps.com. In that span, Dewey made 53 percent of her shots as Plainville was 11-4. Dewey scored a season-best 27 points in a win against Victoria, and reached the 20-point mark WZLFH ,Q WKH ÆUVW JDPHV 'HZH\ RQO\ VFRUHG LQ VLQJOH ÆJXUHV RQFH š WKH VHDVRQ opener.

Kelton Suchy The senior 160-pound wrestler from Russell High School continued his spectacular season by winning the Warcat Invitational in Red Cloud, 1HE $IWHU D E\H LQ WKH ÆUVW round, Suchy needed just 51 seconds to advance to the VHPLÆQDOV YLD SLQ WKHQ QHHGHG just 55 seconds to reach WKH ÆQDOV $QG LQ ZLQQLQJ WKH championship for the tournament, Suchy needed just 16 seconds to capture the crown and move to 26-1 for the season. A week later, Suchy went 2-0 in a double dual to end the regular season.

Haven Hamilton Hamilton, a 5-foot-10 junior at Stockton High School, led the Tiger girls’ basketball team to the championship game of the Mid-Continent League tournament and helped the Tigers out to a 15-2 start to the season. The forward scored a game-high 19 points in the Tigers’ MCL VHPLÆQDO ZLQ RYHU 3ODLQYLOOH before leading Stockton with SRLQWV LQ WKH ÆQDO D ORVV to TMP. Stockton’s only other loss came to Hill City in the season opener.

Trey Sides Sides, just a sophomore at Phillipsburg High SChool, made a buzzHU EHDWLQJ ÇRDWHU WR JLYH the Panther boys a win over previously unbeaten Norton in the Mid-Continent League tournament title game on Jan. 21. Sides led the Panthers with 20 points in the championship game. The Panthers started the year 14-2 with Sides averaging 16.7 points. 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.8 steals per game. The Panthers climbed into the Class 3A rankings at No. 10 in the Feb. 7 KBCA list.
