Craig Nicholson
The Fort Hays State University senior point guard helped lead the Tigers back to the NCAA Central Region Tournament for the second time in his career, averaging 11.8 points and 4.5 assists per game. In the Tigers’ first-round contest, Nicholson scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers and dished out four assists in 39 minutes of action in the final game of his college career. Nicholson was a four-time All-MIAA selection, MIAA Freshman of the Year and All-American as a sophomore. He leaves FHSU as the all-time record holder in assists per game (6.3) and free throws (481).
Regan Kats
Logan’s senior standout led the Trojans to the third-place game in the Class 1A Division II State Basketball Championships, eventually losing to Beloit/St. John’s-Tipton. He tied with a team-high 13 points in the contest and hauled in six boards in the loss. He put together a 25-point, 12-rebound performance to knock off Deerfield in Logan’s tournament opener. He came back with a 13-point, nine-rebound effort in a semifinals loss to Attica.
Kayla Vitztum
The Thomas More Prep-Marian sophomore was named to All-Mid Continent League First Team after she led the Monarchs to a third-place finish at the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson on March 1012. Vitztum scored 23 points and added 14 rebounds in her first game at the state tournament against Garden Plain. The forward later helped TMP claim third with a 29-point, 10-rebound performance against Sterling in the consolation game.
Bradley Little
The Fort Hays State University senior wrestler closed his collegiate career by competing at the NCAA Division II championships in Sioux Falls, S.D., on March 11-12. Little, wrestling at 149 pounds, earned wins in his first two matches to earn his first All-American award. The Wichita native closed the year with a 26-12 mark and owns a 109-61 record in his four years as a a Tiger.
