Cameroun steps up fight against Boko Haram Paul Biya of Pupresident Cameroun has stepped the fight against the
outlawed Boko Haram sect with the deployment of his army chief to the north of the country.
Following a series of cross-border incursions and kidnappings, Biya said Saturday he was also sending more troops and military supplies to the area.
The announcement came ahead of a key USAfrica summit hosted by the United States President Barack Obama in Washington where the fight against terrorism
is expected to top the agenda. “In the last few weeks our forces have made important advances against Boko Haram, but it is a long fight.
“We are dealing with a lawless enemy, which attacks in the night, who cut the throats of their victims,” a report yesterday by the Agence France Presse (AFP) quoted Biya

he All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) yesterday exchanged brickbats over Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State. The APC, the ruling party in the state whose candidate and incumbent governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, is seeking re-election, accused the PDP of planning to rig the election in 10 identified local government areas of the state.
