usal, the world’s largest aluminium producer, has joined
Shell, Chevron and other multi-national in the selling binge of their assets in Nigeria. The company is already
considering the sale of about $1 billion worth of non-core assets, including its stakes in the Aluminium Smelter Company of
Nigeria (ALSCON) located in Akwa Ibom State. A report by Reuters yesterday, quoting BCS financial group analysts,
said the sale talks were at an advanced stage. Other assets that could be sold include stakes in the Bogatyr coal company in Kazakhstan, the analysts said in a research
