he 36 state governments are demanding a quick refund of the $1.48 billion, which the report of a forensic audit ordered into

the accounts of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), said the oil corporation owes the Federation Account, New Telegraph

has learnt. A source confided in New Telegraph yesterday that the states, through their commissioners of finance, also want the

money to be treated as fresh funds to the Federation Account instead of being considered as augmentation to buoy up the
