il price yesterday renewed its decline, falling to a new six-year low at $48 a barrel and worsening the
bickering among members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) on how to stop the slide. The prices of Brent and U.S. crude are near their
lowest since April 2009, having fallen for seven straight weeks on a growing supply glut. The February Brent contract was down $1.33 at $48.78 a barrel while the
U.S. crude oil for the period was down $1.20 at $47.16 per barrel. Analysts at Goldman Sachs cut their threemonth forecasts for Brent to $42 a barrel from $80 and
for the U.S. West Texas Intermediate contract to $41 from $70 a barrel. The bank cut its 2015 Brent forecast to $50.40 a barrel from $83.75 and CONTINUED ON PAGE 6

he All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday alleged that gunmen suspected
to be assassins raided the Abuja home of its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the
