Aviation: FG annuls signatories to N12.5bn BASA account Wole Shadare
I
n a bid to prevent questionable withdrawals of cash from the Bilateral Air Service Agree-
ment (BASA) funds, the Federal Government has annulled the signatures of all the four parties to the account. A top official in the
Ministry of Aviation made this known to New Telegraph last night. BASA is an agreement, which two nations sign to allow international com-
mercial air transport services between their territories, while BASA fund is the amount of money accruing as royalty paid by foreign airlines in com-
pensation for Nigeria’s inability to reciprocate some routes under the pact. Signatories to the account are the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority
(NCAA), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Senate and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation. CONTINUED ON PAGE 2

undamentalists went on the rampage at the weekend, killing
scores of residents of Fota, Gombi Local Government, Adamawa State. Aside killing seven policemen, they also torched churches, a police station
and a court. It is believed that members of Boko Haram, fleeing from Sambisa Forest, Borno State due to the consistent shelling of their
base by security agents, were responsible for the attacks. The fleeing insurgents also attacked a wedding in Bisir, shooting into the
crowd. The Fota attack happened at dawn. A resident simply known as Musa said the fundamentalists, on sight-
