T
he battle for the 2015 elections effectively starts today as more than 3,000 aspirants scramble for the
991 tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 36-state Houses of Assembly. The ruling party has raked about N3.6 billion from the sales of forms to the House of Assembly aspirants.
Thousands of delegates will determine the fate of the aspirants who have paid N1.2 million for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to participate in today’s PDP primary elections across the state.
The 21 PDP governors will in the primaries stamp their authorities in their respective states as delegates file out to elect the party’s standard bearers for the February 28, 2015 House of Assembly election. No fewer than 800 as-
pirants are contesting in today’s PDP primaries for the 243 Assembly seats in Benue (31), Jigawa (30), Kaduna (34), Kano (42), Katsina (34), Lagos (40) and Oyo (32). CONTINUED ON PAGE 52
