he New York Times (NYT), one of the most reputable newspapers across the globe, has granted the New Telegraph an
exclusive licence to print and distribute its international publication in Nigeria every week for the next three years, starting from October 6. The deal, the first of
its kind by NYT with any newspaper organisation in Africa, entails the New Telegraph carrying a 12page insert of the International New York Times, produced by chief corre-
spondents and editors of NYT, every Monday for the next three years. The insert will be a cobranded weekly section in the New Telegraph, in the layout and typography of
the New York Times domestic edition. It shall be composed of news coverage, commentary, colour photos and graphics about the United States, world affairs, business, culture and

ormer Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, yesterday offered himself for probe over allegations that he is one of the sponsors of Boko Haram. The governor, at a news conference in Abuja, professed his innocence just as he did in an exclusive interview he granted New Telegraph, which was published on Tuesday. Also yesterday, Nigeria called on the international community to offer more assistance to West Africa in fighting Boko Haram, saying the fight against terrorism is a global task that should not be left to either a country or a regional to do alone. hief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, yesterday accused International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Nigeria of being involved in the theft of the
nation’s crude oil. The Navy boss disclosed this at a meeting with the top leadership of the Navy and chief executive officers of the IOCs in Abuja. He said that the Navy would not pretend about the involvement of the oil
companies in the crude oil theft. Jibrin said it took him seven-and-a-half months to call the first meeting between the Navy and the oil firms since his appointment to discuss issues of concern in the oil sector,
which included oil theft and illegal bunkering. He also explained that he made it clear that the MD/CEOs should attend the meeting in person without representation because of the need to disCONTINUED ON PAGE 3
