First Presbyterian Church Of Hanover Prepares For 300th Birthday

still amid a realm of busyness. First Presbyterian Church of Hanover, whose congregation had its beginnings back in Whippany in 1718, still celebrates
Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. with a small but faithful community. And on October 7 the congregation will celebrate its 300th anniversary. “The 300th immediately leads us to realize that the church has been around since well before the foundation of our nation,” says Reverend Jin Han, pastor since 2010. “The history of this church permits us glimpses of colonial times when many things we take for granted were not readily available. “The church witnessed the sacrifice of many for the nation and the peace of the world in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World I, and World II,” he continued.
“The 300th anniversary testifies to the constant care with which families have been raised in faith. Children grew up and went forth from here to
different parts of the country and the world to carry the love of God they have experienced in this place. The church that stands today at East Ha-
