By Elsie Walker or those with children who are getting the cabin fever blues, a chance to take them for some affordable fun will also be a chance to help others. On Sunday, Feb. 25, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the old gymnasium of Hackettstown High School, a mini winter carnival will be held for children ages 3 – 11. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $2 for ages 3 and older, and activity tickets will be sold at the door. The mini carnival is an annual event held by the Hackettstown High School Key Club and the Kiwanis Club of Hackettstown. The event will benefit The Arc of Warren County, which provides quality service and support to children and adults who have intellectual disabilities, and their families Kevin Guyette, the director of Development at The Arc of Warren County, shared that the mini carnival will have a variety of food such as hero sandwiches and hot dogs sold by the Kiwanis Club in the cafeteria, and jungle-themed activities in the gymnasium including a hula hoop contest, temporary tattoos, hair color and sparkles, body outline designs, face painting, WRNJ Birthday Wheel, bounce house, and more. In addition, the winning entries of a coloring contest will be on display. Guyette said contest information has been distributed to first through fourth grades in all local
schools with the winners in each grade category chosen by Key Club members. The activities of the day are not only fun, but affordable. “Each game or activity requires a certain number of tickets to play,” he said. “Tickets are sold in 25 cent increments, continued on page 4
