A RE/MAX AGENT CLOSES A DEAL EVERY :30 SECONDS Here’s why experts believe the U.S. is in a housing boom and NOT a Bubble

The U.S. housing market has been an unlikely beneficiary from the Covid pandemic. Home prices have climbed at a record pace. You can see in just the last 15 months or so, we’ve seen a dramatic acceleration in home price growth to levels we haven’t seen in decades. According to most experts, the market is shaping up to look more like a boom rather than a bubble. Bubble, because we can’t believe how much prices have gone up. A bubble tends to be something that’s inflated that could burst at any minute and that’s not really the case here. While speculation certainly is a factor, the main cause for the current housing demand is low mortgage rates. At the start of the pandemic in the 30yr fixed-rate mortgage rate sat at 3.45%. By July 2021, that number had dropped to 2.87%. Supply is also an issue. According to the NAR, the U.S. has underbuilt its housing needs by at least 5.5 million units over the past 20 yrs. That’s a stark comparison to the previous housing bubble in 2008 when overbuilding was the issue. So between more demand and less supply, prices are up and they’re up at the fastest pace since the 1970s. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/09/02/heres-why-experts-believe-the-us-is-in-a-housing-boom-not-a-bubble.html source:cnbc, edited for space

Golf Outing to Benefit Local Three-Year-Old Boy with Cancer

T

he Sunset Pub and Grill announces this year’s Annual Golf Outing and Beefsteak will benefit Luca Ataide. Luca is the beloved three-year-old son of Janine and Joel Ataide. Earlier this summer, Luca started having difficulty walking and sleeping and was experiencing severe leg pain. After numerous doctor and emergency room visits and extensive testing, a tumor was discovered in his pelvis and he was consequently diagnosed with Stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer. Luca is receiving treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. His parents and his sisters, Juliana and Olivia are by his side supporting him through his treatments. For more than a decade, Bob Egan, the Sunset Pub and Grill, and many generous sponsors and donors have raised much-needed funds to support local families, through this annual golf outing and beefsteak. Come on out for a great day on the golf course on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Sunset Valley Golf Course, Pompton Plains, NJ—or just come for the beefsteak. Pre-registration is required and space is limited. Contact Bob Egan at 973-809-8999 or 973-694-8700; or John Callaghan at 973-650-6448 if you’re interested in playing, sponsoring, donating or volunteering.
