Milburn Hosts Recent STEAM Competition To Inspire School Aged Children

This event was organized though a Disney grant to Millburn Middle School’s sixth grader, Arnav Sharma through Youth Services of America to promote STEM in local communities. nity service project in Millburn to promote the fields of Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) among students As students are learning a myriad of different things and venues so effortlessly, The STEAM program adds the arts to the mix of the already existing STEM program: giving students a better-rounded program to stimulate and enhance their curiosity and critical thinking skills. In incorporating the arts in the program, it recognizes that people must be creative and use critical thinking skills that are best developed though exposure to the arts.
This fun, free event took place at Bauer Community Center in Millburn. More than 100 children had a great time showing off their prowess and what they learned with this competition. During the event, members teamed up in teams of two to four, or as individuals. There were several phases of competition: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, where kids and teams just went from station to station to work on related problems: They were even scored by judges.
