Local Female College Athletes Play Strong All Season

By Josh Lashley rden Kassaleh and Samantha Murphy, graduates of Pequannock High School and Jessica Collum, a graduate of Wayne Hills High School were all members of the Caldwell University (NJ) women’s lacrosse program this spring. Collum, a junior who plays attack, started in all 15 games as tallied 16 goals and 10 assists for Caldwell. Kassaleh, a sophomore midfielder, led the team with 64 goals and she also tallied 14 assists. Murphy, a freshman midfielder was second on the team in both goals (33) and assist (23). Kassaleh earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse All-Academic Team honors. She was also named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division II First Team All-Stars and CACC Second Team.
Arden Kassaleh Collum is listed as a biology major, Kassaleh is listed as a business management major and Murphy is listed as an education major. The Cougars had an overall record of 6-9 and they were 4-4 at home. In the CACC they had a mark of 5-4. They advanced to the CACC Tournament where they hosted and defeated Wilmington University, 1812, in the opening round. In the semifinals, they lost to Georgian Court University in a game held in Lakewood. Some other local student-athletes also competed in collegiate sports this past spring season. Chelsea Fortemps (Wayne Hills High School) was a sophomore defender for the Georgian Court University (Lakewood) women’s lacrosse team this spring. Fortemps, listed as an English major, played in 15 games and started in 11 of them for the Lions. She had one goal and one assist on the season. The Lions had an overall record of 13-6 with a mark of 7-2 at home. In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) they posted a 9-0 record. They hosted and won
