At a time when many fear that the march to a cleaner environment had taken a step backwards, I actually see no evidence of that trend on the collective, North American waterfront. Whereas environmental progress up until now has been, to a certain extent, a function of regulatory pressure, the trend to green the maritime footprint today is increasingly a result of corporate social conscience. In other words, going ‘green’ is no longer done purely for compliance purposes. Some operators are fi nding that there are two kinds of green to be found along the way. To that end, Harvey Gulf and its LNG leadership immediately come to mind.
