Your favourite fun run/walk is back! Sunday 11th May The Mother’s Day Classic – Woodend is SUNDAY 11 MAY 2014 on again. Join together in this fun run/ walk and raise money for breast cancer research. In 2013 a record $5 million was raised for this important cause Australia wide. Woodend raised over $14,000, with this year promising to be even bigger. Walk or run for breast cancer research

Celebrate Mums with Trees on Mother’s Day Trees for Mum Woodend will be held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, 11 May from 9.30am to midday at the Rotary Community Exercise Track near Buffalo Stadium on Forest Street, Woodend. Trees for Mum is a series of free national Landcare events inviting children of all ages to celebrate their Mums, by planting trees in their honour on Mother’s Day. The event is now in its third year in Woodend, attracting around 150 people each year.
The Mother’s Day Classic has become firmly entrenched as an important event in the Macedon Ranges. Since 1998 the Mother’s Day Classic has grown into one of Australia’s largest charity events and has become an integral part of Mother’s Day for thousands of Australians. Since 1998 the Mother’s Day classic has raised $19.8 million, with all proceeds donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Woodend Mums Kristy Woodhouse and Angela Van Dam with their children

Gather your friends and family, head to the Woodend Children’s Park and join over 120,000 people Australia wide in celebrating mothers and raising funds for breast cancer research. Choose between a 4km or 8km walk or run. There will be other attractions at the park on the day including a sausage sizzle, children’s activities, live music, raffles and spot prizes. Registration opens at 7:30am, with official welcome starting at 8:30am. The event kicks off at 9:00am. Participants will need to bring gardening gloves and wear sturdy shoes or boots. All planting equipment is supplied. There is no cost to participate; all we ask is that you contact us to reserve your tree(s).
