TIPS FOR GROWING READERS 1. R ead to children from the time they are born. It’s never too early to start! 2. Set aside a special time to read, when you and your family are relaxed. 3. Children enjoy setting the pace of reading time. Encourage them to turn the pages. 4. Many children like to hear the same story again and again. It comforts them and helps develop language skills. 5. Visit the library often to choose books and enjoy programs together. Photo: Jonathan Blanc

Support the Library! Every afternoon, 30,000 youngsters and teens visit the Library to borrow a book or take advantage of the enriching programs listed in this brochure. You can help provide much-needed funds to buy books, underwrite programs, and expand opportunities for children to explore, learn, and grow by making a donation to the Library today! Become a Friend of the Library for as little as $25. Your contribution will be put to work immediately to benefit the children of New York. As a Friend, you will enjoy special benefits, including discounts on LIVE from the NYPL tickets and at our Library Shop. To join, visit nypl.org/support or call 212-930-0653. An annual gift of $1,000 or more will make you and your family members of our Library Cubs Program. In return for your generous support, you will be invited to exclusive library-themed events held throughout the year, and receive an array of special benefits designed for the whole family to enjoy. For additional information, visit nypl.org/cubs or call 212-930-0670.
