NEXT Distro Position: Resource Navigator (Remote) Compensation: $45,000 with flexible 40 hours/week schedule Term: Contract term limited to 1 year Location: Remote role with preference for residency in Southern State Overview NEXT Distro “NEXT” is an online and mail-based harm reduction program working to provide resources to people who use drugs that cannot access in-person services. NEXT receives drug user health supply and support requests from across the country, including in states where we do not formally operate. NEXT will be hiring a Remote Resource Navigator to provide assistance to individuals who need support with referrals, care coordination, supportive counseling, drug user health education such as safer injection training and safety planning, COVID19 education, and related services. This position will also be responsible for scaling up the educational resources and support options available to NEXT’s secondary distribution network and will support peer education initiatives. Our ideal candidate will have experience in geographic and/or social communities that have a negative concept of public health approaches to reducing COVID19 transmission. This is a dynamic position that blends harm reduction case management with community organizing. It will require a motivated individual who is internet savvy and has lived and/or professional experience in navigating social service systems as a person who uses drugs. Responsibilities ● Communicate regularly with participants of NEXT’s syringe access program around their needs and provide referrals and care coordination services as needed; Support participants with accessing requested services including, but not limited to, testing and treatment, mental health care, housing support, crisis intervention, medication for opioid use disorder, and COVID-19 related services; Provide safer injection, wound care, safer sex, and other harm reduction education using email, text, and phone-based communication. ● Lead remote cohort comprised of people with lived experience who will be providing drug user health education within their communities ● Keep apprised of public health data related to drug user health needs, develop strategies to address emerging and location-specific health emergencies. Examples include overdose spikes and increases in HCV/HIV transmission. ● As part of a team, develop culturally relevant materials and campaigns specific to participant needs with a focus on drug user health and wellbeing. ● Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of COVID-19 resources that are rooted in harm reduction practices. ● Research and develop working strategy for supporting individuals who are vaccine hesitant with COVID-19 education and information, support shipping team by identifying COVID-19 resources that can be included in supply packages. ● Develop working relationships with stakeholders, i.e. other harm reduction programs, service agencies, housing agencies, policymakers, county health departments, and tribal councils. ● Complete timely documentation of services provided to participants and other program activities. ● Prepare qualitative and quantitative program reporting on a monthly basis.
