Getting the Job Done By Kyle Watson, VikingSports Magazine
Cornelius Davis is has an image of being a very smart and studious in the classroom, but he is also very talented on the football team. He has been playing varsity all four years of his high school career, and has excelled greatly. “The highlight of my career is when we win games”, says Davis. Cornelius, also known as Neil, is the type of person to work and practice hard everyday. Even when everyone else is playing around during practice, he will step up to stay focused and get the job done. There is never a time when Neil has been on the field and not had his head in the game. “To me football is a way to release all of my energy held in school, on the field”, stated Neil. To be able to start playing varsity as a freshman says a lot about your determination, and heart. With the jersey number 15, Cornelisu Davis plays safety and running back for North Forsyth, and has done exceedingly well in them. Neil has scored many touchdowns, and has helped the team each year to many wins. He has also done his best in keeping a good GPA in school and has his head in his studies off of the field. This is very important in order to be able to play on Friday nights and also to be able to go to a good college of his choice. A lot of athletes today think that just because they play a sport and are good at it, they have an excuse to perform poorly in the class room. Neil does not use is athletic ability as a crutch to not do well. This year Corneilius Davis has rushed for 178 yards and has one rushing touchdown. He has also thrown for 302 yards and has thrown eight touchdowns. These stats are not easy to produce and he has done it in the course of one year. Neal has been dominating on offense but he has also been handling business on defense. Neil has also made one interception for 17 yards. Cornelius has been a big contributor to North Forsyth’s football team. He does all that he can to benefit the team and he is a great student in school. He has a good relationship with all of his teammates and we are lucky to have him here at North Forsyth High School.
Stoked to Play By Gabbie Kiger, VikingSports Magazine
Courtney Stokes is an outstanding teammate to have one that most would like to work with. Courtney enjoys and loves to play the game. Courtney says that she likes to do a lot of sports, such as softball. She says that she likes to have something to do in her spare time. But back to volleyball. Courtney says that “I love the game, it’s fun” she also made the statement that she just loves “Having fun playing, being apart of a team, and playing a sport in general.” Courtney says that this year’s volleyball team has different personalities on the team, which is what made their team great, and that most everyone got along. Courtney’s teammates describe Courtney as a teammate. “Courtney is a very uplifting teammate, she tends to get us pumped for the game at times.” Sounds like Courtney likes her teammates and she wants to win. They also said that think that Courtney would make a great captain. For most of the players on the team, this is their first year playing with Courtney as it is Courtney’s first year playing volleyball with some of the girls that have been on the team for the past couple of years. A lot of the girls say that you can tell that Courtney plays with a passion to win and for the game. Volleyball coach Katrina Davis says that she was pleased to have Courtney on the team this year. She says that she sees Courtney as a success. She tells me that she believes that Courtney can do just about anything she wants when she sets her mind to it. Coach Davis also says considering that this is Courtney’s first year playing, she believes that she is a good volleyball player but as a coach she always say practice makes perfect and it would only make you a better player. She seems to look forward to having Courtney on the team again next year. Coach Davis stated that Courtney is a wonderful student and a great athlete in general.
Sam I Am By Desmond Thomas, VikingSports Magazine Sam is a different individual that plays for North Forsyth high. Sam has been playing football for North for three years-- this year is his first year for him playing varsity. Sam has an important role on this team: he plays free safety, Sam says that he loves the contact and he thinks that his team is a family. Sam says that he would like to play more but he says he plays enough. His teammates say that he is knows how to execute plays. Sam is always ready to play rain on shine. Sam says that he wants to get better so that he and his team can become state champs. Sam says that something unique that he gets hurts every other year in the sport and he hopes that that is something that does not happen this year. Reggie Jackson says that Sam has a very positive attitude, and that Sam is cool calm and laid back and that he does not have a bad attitude and it does not affect him on the team. Some things that Sam likes to besides play football in to engage in activities such as playing cards and wrestling for the North Forsyth team. On the weekend Sam loves to sit around the house and play video games and watch TV. Sam also enjoys going to church on Sunday mornings and spending time with his family, he has a good head on this shoulders and know what’s right from wrong. Sam is a junior this year and he had just got his license and he got a car, so he is now rolling can’t anything stop him now. Sam does good in school, so he should have no problem with getting into a good college.
