National Guard Association of Texas
Welcome to the 63rd Annual National Guard Association of Texas (NGAT) Conference. We are excited to finally be getting back together, in person, after a two year hiatus due to COVID. In September, based on how much our world has changed in response to COVID, our conference committee selected “Embrace Change!” as the conference’s theme. The last two years have caused many organizations, including our own association, to look inward and assess how we do business. Please join us as we adapt to these changes and we encourage your input and feedback. We hope you will enjoy Round Rock and all that the Kalahari Resorts & Conventions has to offer. Your board has deliberately set this year’s agenda to allow you some time to take advantage of the amenities and activities that are available at the resort. All conference events will be held in the Kalahari, except for the Golf Tournament and Fun Run. Our annual Golf Tournament will be held at the beautiful Forest Creek Golf Club. As always, this tournament is a scholarship fundraiser for the NGAT Educational Foundation. Our Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk will be in Old Settlers Park just down the street from Kalahari Resorts. Our popular Wine Tasting will be held at the Sortino’s Lounge. You may also want to attend the free License to Carry certification class. Be sure to join us at 1:00 pm for our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the exhibit hall opening as we welcome our Corporate Partners who support the Association and the Texas National Guard. We have a lot of new Corporate Partners, so please take the time to see what they have to offer. The NGAT Silent Auction celebrates its 18th year. Be sure to bid on the over 200 auction items and take advantage of some great bargains on gift baskets, jewelry, weekend getaways, and tickets to music, sports and other entertainment venues. All proceeds go to the Texas National Guard Foundation. Bidding closes at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Come enjoy music by the Melinda Adams Band with us at the Welcome Party at the Kalahari Event Barn. The party kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. on Friday with great music, food, games, s’mores and a fun -filled night of networking and socializing with friends. We will conduct Association Business at our Annual Meeting on Saturday morning. If you have been designated as a delegate it is very important that you attend this meeting. Join us during the break for coffee and breakfast snacks with our Corporate Partners in the exhibit hall before heading into the General Session, which will include scholarship presentations, and updates from the Texas Military Department. Don’t miss the Awards Banquet Saturday night where we will recognize our event winners and present awards to NGAT members for their accomplishments. After dinner stay and dance the night away with music by Carbonlily. And finally on Sunday, join us for prayer and fellowship at our Prayer Breakfast led by Dr. Charles W. Edwards, Jr. On behalf of the NGAT Board of Directors, we hope you have an enjoyable and productive time as you take in all that our conference has to offer.
MAJ Christopher McKeag NGAT President
THANKS FOR “EMBRACING CHANGE” WITH US!
