Trade Day report
By Nan Cleven
With the last of our beautiful crisp and colourful autumn days behind us, the new season brought a change in focus with stocks of bare-rooted plants a highlight of the day.
The Winter Gala BBQ and coffee Cart for June was jointly sponsored by NGIV Gold Industry Partners, Oasis and WorkSafe.
Oasis took the opportunity to recognise the amazing contribution of Jim Johnson upon his upcoming retirement. Jim has been an industry icon, having been involved in horticulture since 1978 to current day.
And it was a busy day for the second of our Trade Days of the Winter season in July. After some very cold weather, it was a reasonable start to the day, with dry, but cool, conditions.
We welcomed a new member to Trade Day in July – WCG Ceramics, Flowerpots, Table and Homewares. Jielong Li was photgraphed with his father Keying Li and Chunfeng Chen. Having taken the extra time to set up their display for their first visit to Trade Day, response by buyers was steady and they are now keen to return on a regular basis. For more information contact Jielong Li on 0452 273 589
« Camille and Jeanette from Mansfield’s Propagation Nursery spreading the word and highlighting their annual support in the fight against MND, selling Big Freeze beanies – and well timed for the cooler days ahead. Thanks to all who supported this most worthy cause.
« Birthday Celebrations – congratulations from all at NGIV – a major milestone for Chris Gourday on his 80th birthday – he and Lorraine enjoyed the spotlight and some very yummy cake!
« Kevin & Leisa Beecroft – BioLink4 Plants – showcasing their range of organic fertilisers, and pleased with the initial response to their
« Wild Rose Nursery – Reuben Nieuwesteeg – making a welcome visit to trade day ably supported by his father, John – himself a past NGIV member operating under the Nieuwesteeg Roses trade name.
