Henriquez Partners Architects 598 W Georgia Street Vancouver, BC Canada V6B 2A3 Canada 15 June 2022 Dear Henriquez Partners Architects, I am a recent UBC M.Arch graduate applying for your Intern Architect position posted on your website. I want to express my interest in Henriquez Partners Architects in this application. I have a background in heritage research from my undergraduate study in Newcastle to my UBC graduate thesis. I believe my skills and knowledge can help your firm do heritage-related projects as your firm is currently doing the award-winning Mirish Village project in Toronto. Besides my strength in heritage projects, I am open to experiencing varied types of design. For example, I designed a Community Pool in conjunction with the landscape design for the residents in the mixed-use precinct Skeena Terrace (refer to project 1 in my portfolio). I am confident that my openminded attitude can help contribute to your firm’s multi-discipline projects. Regarding work ethic, I simultaneously challenged myself by doing both academic work and real work on my home interior design (refer to project 2). So, my multitasking, time management, and self-motivation skills are solid enough to bring to your team. Besides, during my internship experience, I had an opportunity to sharpen my drawing skills, especially in construction documents (refer to project 4). Regarding skills, I can work well with AutoCAD, Adobe, Revit, Rhino and visualizing tools. I have knowledge of the British Columbia Building Code gained from university studio study. I am a detail-oriented and well-organized person. I have more skills which will benefit your team, and I proudly present them in my portfolio. Please find my resume and portfolio attached to this email. I appreciate your consideration. I would love to have the chance to meet with you to present my portfolio and talk about some opportunities to work with you. Sincerity yours,

Gemilia Lam

2 Re-imagine Interior Design

. Re-imagine There were 3 questions I asked myself in this project: 1. How does colour define space from the colour legend 21st century Luis Barragan, Mexico? 2. How to revival 20th century Indochine style in the 21st century, Vietnam? 3. How do the new and the old meet?

3 Jesmond Museum Narrative Project

Water garden . The journey’s starting point is the underground water streams in St Mary’s Well from West to East. The water is an elixir and the consistent element of all stories. These rooms align to the holy water direction, and a water corridor is devised. The long corridor is the metaphor of the underground water runway. It is a dark narrow path lightened by the sun; the blue sky above reflects the water - an imaginary spring. The sky is the implication of water, which is observed along the Ouseburn riverside. It is an interpretation of nature impressions into architecture.
