" Pedrinho was completely lost with those words. He couldn't admit that such thing was possible. If make-believe wasn't made of any 'living wood', how could it be alive? - It did live! - the girl insisted. - But we only live when we 'change our state'. - What’s this story about? - I don't know how to explain. I just know that in certain moments we change our state and start to see the marvelous things that are around us." >> Monteiro Lobato (brazilian writer)

With the need to unite Design students from across the country, in 1991 southern brazilian university students idealized the National Conference for Design Students, NDesign. Since then, the event is held each year in a different city and is responsible for fostering a student based movement and diffusion of knowledge which puts students in touch with the design environment. In formal words, NDesign is an itinerant and annual event of academic, scientific, cultural and political character. It's a non-profit organization that promotes integration between design students and deepens the critical debate among scholars of the area in various sectors of society.

MAIN GOALS Why NDesign should happen in Goiânia in 2014? __
Proposing that people "find their unprecedented states", one soon realizes that Goiânia by itself already refers to this status: never before been held a National Conference of Design Students in the capital of Goiås. It would be the first time that a city receives such a meeting and positively impactful. We want to_ / Promote the visibility of academics and professionals projects
with marketing aim to encourage regional and national production , strengthen the profession and educate the society about design. / Stimulate the students and participants' involvement throughout
Brazil with the student movement and profession, seeking to improve the representation of academics throughout the country and in the teaching conditions. / Facilitate people's access from all regions to the event bringing it
back, after seven years of itinerancy, to the Midwest region. Being at the country's core, and almost equidistant from all regions, it's easier for students from any corner of the country to attend.

/ Attract the attention of national and regional design market to the
importance of a national meeting and encourage the presence of students and pros at meetings, conferences, symposia, seminars alike. / Projecting the conference as the best environment for people and
their possibilities of transformation. Propose a reflection about changes and how we can deal with them, encouraging participants to seek for themselves their own unprecedented state. / Meet the growing demand for events of national importance in
the Midwest region and the desire of the academic community of Goias in hosting the NDesign. / Highlight the interdisciplinary of Design and conduct a meeting
endowed of this plurality in all dimensions that the event allows you to explore. / Stimulate participants to live the multiple possibilities of
experience the meeting can provide, where every moment can provide learning and transformation of professional and personal matter.

CHANGE YOUR STATE_ Understand our
conference's theme_
"For a conscious being, to exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly."
We propose, instead of a gathering of designers or students, a gathering of people that are made by the same substances in their nature, but receive external influences - cultural background, education, training, etc. of different processes; shaping their personality and character in different ways. There are countless possible and accessible states for everyone. To change your state is to also change yourself, according to the experiences that the encounters brings, whether premeditated or spontaneous. Being immersed in different realities of various individuals will not only turn us into professionals but also as people. How many states can you achieve? What is your unprecedented state? We hope that the NDesign can act as a potentiator of change, accelerating the process created by the activities of the event and also by the participants themselves.
>> Henri Bergson (french philosopher and diplomat)

Change promotes the evolution and enhances knowledge; increases the repertoire and shows new ways, besides revealing shortcuts for paths already known. It is driving the maturation of ideas and implementation of projects. The N_Goiânia proposes constant status changes, in order to show that the choices you make and the influences that you receive are responsible for training your future self;
CHANGE OF STATE? How the concept of change relates to a Design event_
During our first meetings, much has been said about breaking paradigms. Words such as society, behavior, encouragement, inspiration, disposition, community, interaction, change, encounter, duality, interdisciplinarity, transformation and maturing were always very present in discussions that guided the construction of the theme for our project.
Video: “VOCÊ” QR Code to the video
Aside from these initial discussions, we sought references in videos ("We all want to be young", "All work and all play") and past events materials (projects, videos, documentaries, and conversations with veterans / conference organizers). From this we perceived changes in generations, at past conferences and the person itself. N_Goiânia wants the participant to find an unprecedented state. We believe that there is not an ideal or perfect state, there are states, the current and the next, in which the transformation is the way and the process that brings us closer to a new state.

In the search for a more concrete basis, we find the philosophical theory of human trichotomy that human beings can be divided into three states: Spiritual (scientific knowledge acquired), Mental (emotion / affection), Body (physical / genetic). We propose also a fourth state: the social state. An external state to the other three constituents of being united, but with the ability to change them all. Changing these areas is to change your character, how you see, show and behave in the environment. And nothing better than your own environment to influence this modification.

THE TRANSFORMING ENVIRONMENT Where the state changes will occur?
We don't believe in a meeting as a trapped container or something limiting, but rather as an environment conducive to change, in which "forces" will be applied to the transformations to occur. We want the event as the progression of the change process, which will give access to new states. But as said, the environment will not be limiting, so that we sought the participants to act and create activities so that the meeting would be constructed by the actions of each individual, then adding the collectivity. Thus, all event participants provide forces for immediate and future changes. The concept of an ideal state will not be used at any time, the intention is that the participant reflects internally and always question his/ her state. One hopes that the NDesign participant will return with a reflective attitude, which is of fundamental importance for the modification process, necessary for improvement. We are guinea pigs of ourselves, of our experiences, attitudes and processes in which we operate. And the echo of the metamorphosis that will make our proposals last longer and increasingly influence more people. The change comes from the transformation of the individual itself, acting on the collective in which it exerts influences and is influenced by it, thus altering the course of modifications to both. There is no collective without individuals to integrate it.

HOW TO CHANGE? How we propose
that the transformation occur?
NDesign is an event that features some similar activities in their editions. NGoi창nia wants to keep some of these traditions, adapting them to its thematic, would they be lectures, roundtables, workshops, SePAs, Cases, and others. Furthermore, it is planned to integrate new actions that amplify the understanding of the proposal. As Lia Kr체cken quotes in the book "Design and Territorio", the modern era, liquefied, is endowed with immense power to transform. The change of state undergone by society is responsible for an improvement in critical discussion and the emergence of new areas of knowledge. It is up to the people immersed in the modernity, learn to take advantage of these changes. In turn, the Design, as an interdisciplinary area of study, has to adapt to the ever changing new time.
"Branzi, Bauman and Manzini, dealing with the study of new scenarios, refer to 'liquify state of the solid world'' precedent (modern era) and the origin of a second fragile and diffuse modernity, even mutants and unpredictable contours. For them, it's like several before and rigid containers protected broke down and their contents would mix, giving birth to knowledge until then little considered and systematized by reference community - which promoted, in consequence, new possibilities and new challenges in fields distinct knowledge, these included design." >> Lia Krucken (P.hD. in Production Engineering)

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES Understand how we can facilitate the change of state in participants_
Centrifuga Activity where participants will interact on other topics mastered by guests of the design area. Topics such as movies, music, dancing, tattoos and many other aspects that are related to the universe of the designer will be addressed in the exchange of ideas, showing that knowledge of other areas of interest can be of extreme value in the creative process and the construction of one's self. The metaphor of the change of state is also an emphasis on interdisciplinarity of Design - an area covering many aspects and that relates to many others.
Acelerador de Mudanรงas In a universe of never ending transformations, time is a decisive factor in the life of any professional. The Change Accelerator is an integrative action in which participants are challenged to make decisions quickly and under pressure. The objective is to test the argumentative power and control of your own time speech. It is a joint activity that promotes, besides improved oratorical skills, maturation of the critical sense of individuals.

Mude nosso espaรงo A space with technical specifications for the participants develop, adapt activities/facilities and enroll by edict. The proposal aims to make the common spaces of NDesign an extension of the activities through modifications where the participants may participate, observe, learn and interact . The proposals will be analyzed by the CONDe and those with the best link to the theme, creativity, sustainability practices, etc. will be chosen. Almost the reverse of an edict, in which the participant propose his/ hers activity already knowing the location and the conditions under which it will need to fit.
Mesa de Estados We propose a round table activity different from the usual . This activity will be composed of individuals from different states of the country, to make an immediate relation to the event's theme . The dynamics aims at discussion of projective methods, differences in market and professional practices in different regions, making the participants listen and learn, finding themselves and "Mudarem seus estados" when having contact with people from different realities.

GOIÂNIA Meet some of our city's past _
HISTORICAL ASPECTS Goiânia came to be on October 24th 1933, as a need for a new headquarters for the state government. The current capital was the City of Goiás, located 140 km from Goiânia, where the power was in the hands of the colonels. The new capital came to be because of the emphasis that the government had at the time, good economic results, emerging industrial sector and also the need for consolidation of the New State. With the change of the capital political plans of the season would be facilitated, such as the March to the West, which was focused on opening the horizons for the region's progress and development, primarily in the Midwest and later in the northern region of the country . Thus was born then the capital, with a planned urban design inspired by French garden-cities, with several squares, parks, forests, wide boulevards and permeated by a series of iconic buildings inserted in the context of art- deco.
Goiânia is a natural result of a need for change, progress and advance.

SOCIO-CULTURAL ASPECTS City of cultural plurality_
Goiânia is among the five Brazilian cities with lowest cost of living, and among the three with better quality of life. Nationally famous as the capital of the "country duos " because big names of this style began a successful career in the city, such as Zeze di Camargo and Luciano, Leandro and Leonardo, among others. But there is also an extensive activity of the local underground circuit, with several acclaimed independent festivals such as Goiânia Noise, Bananada, Covernation, Grito Rock, Vaca Amarela and Tattoo Rock Fest. The capital is full of events, with clubs ranging from rock to alternative. With intense local production, various cultural events and exhibits are held monthly, encouraging the production of culture to the local population and the adjacent towns. Besides being spaces where the design can act exponentially. Goiânia has a huge cultural plurality.

DESIGN SCENARIO The academic life and profession in Goiás'_
The undergraduate Design courses in the city are spread over five universities: Graphic Design , Interior Design, Fashion Design, Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Jewelry and Gem Design. The academic area has a growing number of postgraduate courses in Design and related areas, such as Visual Culture, thus expanding the amount of research in Design. The city has all the 4 courses of graduate school to date, namely: Masters and PhD in Visual Culture (Universidade Federal de Goias), Post-Graduation (Long Distance Learning) in Visual Arts - Culture and Creation (Senac) and PostGraduation in WebDesign (Senac) . The MA in Visual Culture originated MediaLab UFG, whose research on technological innovation has stand out in the national technology scenario. One of the particularities of design scenario in Goiânia is the increasingly active presence of collectives, groups of people interested in encouraging broad areas (generally related to culture, design, art and the like), often working in educational and cultural projects with the objective of strengthening Goiânia's market. Eg.: Fábrica de Cultura Coletiva, the Collectives GOType, Fake Fake and Centopeia.
DESIGN ____ 32_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _SCENARIO
The capital has a consolidated fashion market and regular attendance of fashion events (FAV Fashion, GO Fashion Week, CMB Fashion, Savannah Fashion Week, among others) and also events related to research, such as the Fashion National Research Conference. Goiânia is definitely a fashion center for production and marketing (by the way Goiânia has a huge amount of segment focused free trade fairs, besides the country's largest wholesale spot - mainly jeans), thereby driving Fashion Design courses and consequently research in the area. Regarding the scope of the Interior Design graduation, Goiânia has its own shows of great national recognition like as CasaCor Goiás and Morar Mais por Menos, besides shops that are reference for having productions signed by big names in furniture and product design, especially the 4th Kartell store in Brazil. In Graphic Design market, the capital features prominently in the area of Visual Identity, Branding and Illustration, in constant development. Eg.: studios/offices such as Nitrocorpz , BR/BAUEN , Bicicleta Sem Freio , Monodois, ZebraBold, Ficticia Lab and Enredo, with some national and internationally recognized studios. In a nutshell, the city shows a promising scenario for both academic and p rofessional market design growth, after all both should walk together and must complement each other, benefiting everyone and unifying Goiânia's market.

STUDENT MOVEMENT Here's how Goiás' future designers organize themselves_
Goiânia has been promoting the consolidation of the student movement for several years now. Students from various colleges are uniting to organize integrated actions. The purpose of these actions is to unite students, expand horizons beyond their own college, share knowledge and connect all the Design areas offered in the capital. The city has a historic representation in conferences for both their ever-present delegations as the realization of regional events. Goiânia hosted the first RDesign (Regional Event) in it's region in 2005, which had as its theme "Abrindo as Porteiras", a topic that also served to make explicit the first event of student design events in the city. In 2008 the regional event was hosted in Goiás once again, this time in the historic city of Pirenópolis. In 2011, the regional event returned to the state capital, the 7th Regional Conference of Design Students General Centro-Oeste/Minas happened in Goiânia and included delegations from different cities of Brazil. The event brought great results the academic community, professional and society in general. The growing number of participants present in RDesigns made by Goiânia shows the exponential increase in student interest in regional conferences of this size and demonstrates the city's movement and the city itself on the national scenario.

In Goiás' capital there are six active Design Academic Centers: CADEG (Academic Center for Graphic Design), CADAM ( Academic Center for Ambient/Interior Design) and V November ( Academic Center for Fashion Design), all of them under Federal University of Goias, CADUC (Academic Design Center of the Catholic University), PUC-Goiás, CATED (Academic Center for Technology and Design) Senac and newly created Academic Center for Fashion Design of Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (Universo). Seeing the movement of the first Academic Centers acting, other region Design courses saw the importance of creating their own academic centers, to represent the students, organize academic and cultural activities and strive for improvements. It's common occurrence of "design week" in colleges (Semanas dos Calouros, Semanas de Design and seintegra! - Semana Integrada de Design de Goiânia), where lectures, case studies, workshops, roundtables and experiences with professionals, locals and countrywide occur, in addition also offer a space where students can promote his/hers academic production and make a huge networking.
In Megafônicas that occurred in Goiânia in 2012, there was a debate over the work market where the discussion about the stagnation that some students and professionals may find and the need to do something to change market problems arose. The report contains " If you want change, be the change. People need a model - they inspire themselves on things that succeed. Influence them. The student of today is the one who shapes and defines the local market. Hence the conclusion is that we are in a time of change, in a place that allows it: we are shaping the marketplace. Today's actions define the course of Goiás' design market. Discussions are the first step in sequence and it is necessary to strengthen the student movement and the next step is the practice. And why not a national event?".

The seintegra! was a prominent event - the proportions grew more than anticipated. Attended by about 270 participants, among participants, workshop instructors, speakers and organizers. It happened every day in a different college. The event's goal was the integration between colleges that offer courses in Design in Goiânia, among veterans and freshmen and four focused areas of design in the city (Graphic, Fashion, Product and Interior). "I hope this won't be only seintegra!, but the first seintegra!" ( Wagner Bandeira - Graphic Design/UFG - Course coordinator).
